snoop1130 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Fireworks banned in Bangkok’s public parks during Loy Krathong By Coconuts Bangkok Photo: Amazing Thai Tour Loy Krathong this year will be celebrated without entertainment and fireworks as Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is toning down the festivities out of respect for the late HM King Bhumibol. Loy Krathong, the festival held to pay respect to the Goddess of Water, takes place on on Nov. 14 this year. As the key part of the event is to float a flower buoyant or krathong onto the river, public parks will be open for the tradition, but there will be no festivities. Fireworks are banned in public parks, and people are encouraged to usekrathong made from natural materials, Bangkok Biz News reported. The manic Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Its a great shame that they cannot be classified as a sign of respect and for displays to be bigger and brighter than ever- albeit organised and not a free for all. If the authorities could curb some of the vile music currently being played around Thailand that would show respect in so many ways. The crude, rude and violent ghetto music being played IN THE STREETS should be banned and the police should take action - its obscene - racist- and bad on so many levels.
katana Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 In years' past I remember Bangkok's Sanam Luang during Loi Kratong was like a warzone with fireworks going off left right and centre and people firing rockets and other fireworks at each other like they were toys. Was surprised there weren't more injuries.
asanee Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 THis is for OFFICIAL (TAT)promoted such shows that used to be on that date in many places of the city. Reading must be an enormous hard task for most TV-users. Ditto for the river-boat shows around that day. The public throwing firecrackers was not that much around in BKk the last yrs as appeals to forego it have been for at least 5-6 yrs now. Much different from ChiangMai and the like.
