Police won praises from mourners for their performances

BANGKOK: -- Police in Bangkok were given kudos by the majority of the people who went to pay tribute to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Grand Palace for their performance in traffic management, providing security and other public services.

The research division of the Strategic Affairs Office of the Royal Thai Police Office said it had conducted an opinion survey of the mourners since October 14 to gauge their opinions about how they felt about the police performances.

The survey shows the following results:

90.20 percent of the respondents were most satisfied with police performance in the maintenance of security; 82.30 percent were satisfied with police’s traffic management and 92.90 percent were satisfied with police’s politeness and friendliness with the people.

No bias here...

An opinion survey about police, conducted by police, is certainly going to be independent - isn't it ???

Who conducted the poll, Thai Police Researchers for Community Happiness ?

How many people confronted by someone in uniform asking questions about how well the police performed would say much that was negative and that's presuming the poll was in fact anything like genuine ?

Personally I would like to see the wearing of masks banned by police as they are just there to intimidate and prevent anyone from recognizing (identifying) them. Be transparent as they are such a wonderful and great public service to everyone.

Once i had a policemen with mask and sunglasses yelling to me, i couldn't understand him though since he wasn't speaking english.

Would be nice if we could read their names and see their faces.

If the police did a good job in the palace area is hard to say, traffic in that area is the most chaotic of whole Thailand...yesterday i saw many cars just parked on roadlanes which are very very busy at the moment. They caused huge congestion but the police didn't do anything to get them away from there..

Also i see mourners crossing the road while all traffic is driving, police just looked the other way.

Totally agree and what you described, sadly is the norm.

Perhaps all the mourners questioned in the survey just happened to be wearing police uniforms?

So the police get a pat on the back for doing their job

What next a reward also  :shock1:

They have finally found their niche in the realm of things directing people. I love the built in smile on the pollution masks saves a lot of work.
