Be careful doing this exercise. There are far better exercises for the mid-section, and heavy people can cause back and shoulder injuries doing this - and get very little benefit in the mid section.

I have an ab-roller and use it quite a bit. It can put a lot of stress on the shoulder joints and lower back if done incorrectly. Heavy people will find it a lot more difficult. I don't find it targets the abs very well, but it strengthens the core muscles.

 

There are a number of good YouTube videos on correct technique.
