Popular Post gomangosteen Posted November 16, 2018 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) Koh Proet, SW Chanthaburi coast, was the site of refugee camps 70s, 80s, for Vietnamese and Cambodian refugees, known as Camp Laem Sing at times over 5000 people. Little to show for that part of history now, some memorials and remnants of small concrete structures now overgrown as nature claims it back Some may have read the book First They Killed My Father, later made into a movie. The author Loung Un was in this camp i Genocide survivor Loung Ung (center) holds an identification card as she stands with her eldest brother Meng Ung (left) and sister-in-law Eang Ung in 1980 in the Laem Sing Refugee Camp in Chanthaburi, Thailand. Would it be possible to give some basic directions? I'm planning to go to Kanchanaburi later in January. Thanks a lot for any info & for the continued shares!

I think I'm not wrong ...Behind the " ruins " there are buildings where many people live . Two photos I just shot about Kanchanaburi map ; sorry a little bit blurred and iso 6400 ( it does not help! ) , but you can see the bridge over river Kwai and the numbers of the roads

helbob Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 5000000 Euros is a lot of money for a old airplane ???? @diznax I send you a message with the gps coordinates. I don't want post it in public because to many strange people go there and then it will be closed. 2
Cat ji Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Nice, lots of places I'd renovate to live in, if I could have a long-term lease at a good price. Good thread! I like abandoned factories and so on anyway.

My wife actually found quite a bit of info about the site online in Thai, including this very dark news story about man who killed his wife & then himself at the water park behind the mall. I agree with hellbob that it could be a very creepy place at night. I actually had a moment there when I was a bit freaked out. I was flying my drone outside the building when a truck rolled up with a bunch of guys in the back wearing military gear and balaclavas & carrying guns. They all jumped out and ran into the mall. I realised pretty quickly that they were just the 'terrorist' faction of a BB gun team, there to battle the 'counter terror' group! It was kind of a weird moment & totally unexpected. I met them after their game ended, nice guys. Anyway, it's certainly a unique place, working on the photos at the moment. Below is a picture of the knockoff Aladdin genie at the water park & an aerial shot. Happy new year everybody 7

I think there was originally two of these here. One Two Go Airlines Co. Lte[1] (Thai: วัน-ทู-โก แอร์ไลน์) was a low-cost airline based in Don Mueang, Bangkok, Thailand.[2] Following the crash of OG 269 in Phuket, Thailand on September 16, 2007, One-Two-GO was banned from flying in European Union nations due to safety concerns.[3] Its main base was Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok.[4] Always owned and managed by Orient Thai Airlines and owned by CEO Udom Tantiprasongchai and his wife Nina Tantriprasongchai, the One-Two-GO brand was retired in July 2010, and the aircraft re-branded as Orient Thai Airlines. Banned for safety reasons. In their early days they had short flights from Utapao to Bkk (18 min flying time). I took that flight once, never again. Doors closed at Utapao, aircraft moves out to the starting point on the actual runway. Pilot now announces there will be a delay, one more passenger coming. Maybe 20 minutes later door is opened and some passengers can see there is a pick up truck with a typical airline ladder in tow slowly approaching the aircraft and the pick up truck is massively loaded with giant multi-coloured plastic clothing bags. Ladder in place the additional passenger (Thai lady, maybe mid 30's comes on board). Now lots of discussion and strong arguments, then the pilot appears and is berated by the new passenger, lots of phone calls. End result, many passengers at the front of the aircraft instructed to sit much further back. Now the guys from the pick up truck start bringing the giant heavy clothing bags up the ladder and into the cabin, about 15 bags which are deposited whereever they are dumped, partly in seats / on top of seats and the final bags blocking the exit door and also preventing the cabin crew from moving from their own cubby area to the rest of the aircraft. Pilot is watching this and is in panic, but he eventually goes back to the cockpit and takes off. Lots of severe complaints from the other passengers on arrival, cabin crew (who actually tried to stop the bags from being loaded) now in the cross fire. Other officials from the company arrive, passengers try to talk / complain to them. The same word comes up again and again 'VIP'. I wrote 2 letters of complaint, both never answered. I never flew that airline again. 1
Popular Post helbob Posted January 1, 2019 Popular Post Posted January 1, 2019 A happy new year special I think many of you know this place. This areal was a very popular place until 2 years ago and makes big money. They had about 150 tiger, 100 workers and make per year about 2,5 million euro plus tiger body parts. Now it is quiet there because no tigers there, only one lion and many deer, ponys, waterbuffalos and pigs. The cages of the tigers are lost places. I like the big tiger replicas at the road to the tiger temple. The one with mother and baby has a room inside. 3
Assurancetourix Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 Thank u Helbob ; and where are the monks ? When it was open there were already many deers, ponys, waterbuffalos and pigs and also boars and many volatile like peacocks , hens ... I think now the entrance is free , not 500 baht as it was ?
Popular Post helbob Posted January 1, 2019 Popular Post Posted January 1, 2019 (edited) A few monks still there. Some of the "high" monks maybe in the jail. Yes, entrance is free now ???? Popular Post diznax Posted January 3, 2019 Author Popular Post Posted January 3, 2019 (edited) I finished the series of photos from my visit to Castle Mall & they can all be found here, along with details from a bit of research. Here's a drone video as well. It opened in1995 & the majority of it closed in 2005 due to a combination of new retail competition opening up nearby, poor management, the owner's wife passing away, which led him to lose interest in keeping the business going. Apparently the cinema had a reputation for being not so clean, lots of complaints online. The Hot Pot restaurant & Cinema lasted till 2011 & 2013. Thanks again to @hellbob for sharing his images. I had heard about this place years ago from a work colleague but had forgotten about it until I saw the pictures. Edited January 3, 2019 by diznax 9
