There must be a jail here full of big tough burly boys looking for their main squeeze. He does look rather effeminate. Give him a jar of Vaseline and he is good to go.

most people on this forum have never experience poverty, myself included. i have had some of the girls tell me about it though. you need to think about the complete picture before passing judgement. no doubt some of the money there girls were making was going to feed their babies, now those baby may be going without. almost every girl i know selling herself in pattaya is doing it, at least in part to feed her baby. sounds like these girls were doing this voluntarily and the guys was paying them the going rate.

There are hundreds of these people around the entertertainment circle. The only reason why he was caught could be there were not enough yellow envelopes to pass around.

Gosh how things have changed ,when i first came here 20 odd years ago , these were the normal ages for most of the girls in the bars , i used to remember a bar i think on beach road called "school days" and the girls at the door wore school uniform , ,another time in soi cowboy in BKK a pole dancer came on to me , she was 16 .

The youngest I ever heard about was from Surin aged 13 in black and white bar in SC about 16 years ago, used to sit there stark naked. Should the cops have been informed? well they probably knew or did not care, as did the kids parents apparently.

"Uncle" is a scumbag and has broken the law, just like many others in clubs and bars in major tourist areas, who rarely get caught.

However, in this case, it does not look as if Human trafficking is involved (in the strict sense) as it appears that none of the girls on his books is complaining.  No doubt, if he was not acting as their "agent" on line, the same girls would be offering the same services in bars and clubs in Bangkok, Pattaya or Phuket.  It is probably the only way in which these girls can earn a reasonable wage sufficient to support themselves and their families, so they will soon be seeking an alternative way to offer their services. It is doubtful that this arrest will be the catalyst for a complete change of career for them.

agree. prostitution is more of a lifestyle in thailand and uncle ghost was just facilitating what many would do independantly.  wechat seems to be 80% prostitute advertising

Just like the Philippines, India, and most parts of Asia. And the West, including countries where prostitution is legal, legal in some parts or illegal but laws aren't enforced.

Only some like to pretend it's just Thailand and then exaggerate it beyond belief. Usually whilst sitting on a bar stool with their ex special forces mates.

You have to accuse me, but there is something wrong here. First you have the opinion and the respect for laws, as you choosen to follow them. That´s perfectly alright for me, and I would not go with a 15 year old either.
The thing that hits me though, is that you after that write that you "say ok" if he is giving the girls an opportunity!!?? He is still breaking the law, unless you just rewrote them. Can you please help me to make 1 and 1 to be 2 as usual in the way you seem to look at it.

Another thing is that it´s actually super clear that this man is not giving the girls an opportunity or make a better life for them. How can you even think of something so unrealistic.

No one is just hanging people in this country either. Just think you have to read to good book of law. You know judges, court room, police and so on.....

Get Real Obviously you have little knowledge what is really going on in Thailand. Spare yourself the judgement and just look around when you walk through the streets at night. I fully agree that it is wrong to have sex with under age girls and that the law must be obeyed. One thing that you don't understand in Thailand is that sex are not dirty as in Europe. If a under age girl want sex it is difficult to stop them, not even the Thai laws will stop them. This   "Uncle Ghost of Pattaya" took the chance  to make money out of them and enrich himself by selling their service. I fully agree with the law that he must be punished for what he have done, but this will not stop underage sex in Thailand. The attitude  in Thailand is  "If my older sister can make money out of sex why can't I make money too" Every Thai needs to make money in Thailand to survive,  unfortunately sex is the easiest way to do it as most of these girls comes out of a very poor house with almost no education. To find a proper job and to make a living  in Thailand is the most difficult thing to do if you are under educated and comes out of a very poor family.

You must not have traveled much around if you think this is a unique Thai issue or somehow far more prevalent. It isn't. Just that some countries are less open.

Not so bar girls can say no if they wish they are not forced to go with customers unlike these poor girls in the OP.  Whilst I won't say All the vast majority of bar girls are of legal age.

Oopps! Where in the world did you get any kind of information about my knowledge on whats going on in Thailand. I just happened to comment on a person that made 2 different opinions that didn´t match.

What you write here is nothing new to me. How can you get that idea? I know exaclty how it is for poor farmers and their sons and daugthers in Thailand. That is why I can comment on things like this. For your information I actually live with a girl that formerly worked in a place selling herself, just like many other that comes to Thailand end up doing but not talk about. After that we got a daugther and been living together for over 6 years now.

More information is that I also have a 16 years experience of living in Thailand, out of which I lived 4 years of thoose as a single man. So plaese don´t lecture me about knowledge in that area. What is obiviuos here is that you just use one comb and fix all hair.

Where did you for example get the information that: "One thing that you don't understand in Thailand is that sex are not dirty as in Europe"?
That´s why many people come here. Because it´s open and easy to get, and there is no shame in it for any part.
I have probably been on more streets than you can find on the map, so maybe it´s time for you to spare yourself another stupid and irrelevant comment. Have a nice day!

I have seen in the news that a guy has called the police when he find out that the massage he paid was actually a "full service"...and everybody was charge for pimping and prostitution...
What if every "customers" will do the same ?!

Sounds like a lot of nonsense, where was that published?  How would he know what full service was unless he took advantage of it?  A masseuse talking about it isn't prostitution or pimping until the act takes place.

Posted

Obviously a lot of bar owners, massage parlor owners and certain 'club' owners should be in the dock along with this guy, pimping is almost as serious as underage. According to the 1966 law, vague in some aspects of prostitution but not when it comes to pimps, which is what they all are:

The penalties under the Prostitution Law become more significant for people who trade in prostitutes and the pimps who mange them. Any person who owns or manages a prostitution establishment or controls a prostitute is subject to imprisonment of three to 15 years and a fine of 60,000 to 300,000 baht.  If the prostitution establishment employs underage minors 15 years old or older, the penalty increases to five to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 to 300,000 baht. If the prostitution establishment employs underage minors below 15, the penalty increases to 10 to 20 years in prison and a fine of 200,000 to 400,000 baht.

A person advertising the availability of prostitution services is subject to a prison term of six months to two years, a fine of 10,000 to 40,000 baht, or both. Any person who procures another person for purposes of prostitution is subject to a prison term up to 10 years and a fine up to 200,000 baht, regardless of whether such other person consents or whether the acts relating to such procurement occurred within the borders of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Yeah! The law is good, but vague as you say.

An good example is all the bar owners. Everybody know that you can get a girl there, or a man on the other hand. Somtimes both in the same package. The choise is individual.
How ever there is no way of pointing this out as a fact regarding the law as it is in the case with "Uncle Pattaya". Here you just talk to the person you want go with you. Make an almost silent deal. The bar just charge for the girl leaving work. Everything else is considered gifts in good faith. LOL

I have not come to that yet, but there must be a law that says something about working in a place that offers alcohol. Maby if that exists it could be a way to stop this circus with underaged girls in the bars at least, but on the other hand they only find another place to work. Out of that perspective it might be safer for them in the little bit more protected bar environment.

Uncle Scum.....nuff said.

Indeed, but let's not forget that Uncle Scum exists because the 'market' is there. Pattaya is not exactly short of scumbag 'customers' who make no secret of their preference for underage girls/boys and are quite happy to brag about their 'conquests' with their friends.

I have lived in Jomtien for a fair number of years now, and I don't see much action taken by the police to get rid of that trash.

Of course I am very happy that this guy is now out of the way, and thanks to the local cops for that, but if all the ingredients remain (poverty + fast money on the 'selling' side and lack of conscience + lust + enough cash on the 'buying' side),  other Uncle Scums will keep popping up like vile mushrooms.

There is appearently a law that states a person under 18 years of age is prohibited from working between 22.00 to 06.00. If that one comes to force, maby it could make it little bit better.

There is also this one:

Section 50. A boss shall be prohibited from permitting a child employee under the age of eighteen years to work in the following places:

  • (1)An abattoir.
  • (2)A casino.
  • (3)A dance, folk dance or ronggeng hall.
  • (4)A place which sells and provides food, alcohol, tea or other beverages, with hostesses to serve customers or with places for resting or sleeping or with massage services for customers.
  • (5) 0ther places as prescribed in ministerial regulations.

I don't know why this is even a subject seeing that there are hundreds ( more?) bars etc where the girls are quite young in every tourist town in Thailand. There was one on Bangla road Patong  where everyone could see the girls from standing on the street, most were very very young. Ok, so everyone will say the girls are all over 18, or , Thai girls look younger than their age. Does that excuse everything, does that make it ok , either prostitution is legal or not ! I've seen a 14 yr old boy leaving a bar with a man in his fifties. The boy was beautiful, it quite upset me.Its hard not to think what prostitution does to all these young kids, it's a lost generation .

I never mentioned anything about money so don't even bother trying to twist it around.

Personally, I wish that those with issues of what occurs here would just get on a plane and go back to where they came from. Then again, the proper clear out is well on its way come 2017.

So you want millions of Thais to leave there own country as they don't like under aged girls being used by perverts and sold to other perverts then.

They should add a charge of mischief too. What's the matter with the people of this country?

I guess what you would say is wrong with this country is they have different laws from what your country does. What's a charge of "mischief," anyway? I know of a couple potential charges of "malicious mischief" and "criminal mischief" in American law, depending on what state (geographical location) you're in, but not just plain "mischief" in connection with sex offenses.
