Missing Perth man Josh Goudswaard reportedly found playing bongos in Thailand

Heather McNeill

A Perth man who went missing in Bali after leaving the country with a Tinder date has reportedly been found playing bongos in Thailand by an American tourist.

Josh Goudswaard was reported missing this week after not being heard of since November 1 and family and friends held grave fears for his safety.

But according to Mr Goudswaard's friend Aaron Smith he was found alive on a Thailand beach on Thursday. Mr Smith announced he had been found in a post on social media, with New Zealand Police later confirming he was no longer considered a missing person.

He showed his deep love for his family. Who will be the lucky girl to be picked as his mate?

People drop out for all kinds of reasons. Particularly tourist don't spend all day scouring TV, most are to busy having fun so maybe he didn't know he was missing

Seems a little geographically confused...

In the world of smartphones, a message or two back home is a herculean task...

Seems a Bongo or two short of a Salsa Band...

That's not dropping out. He may have been kicked out of home for all you know. Also playing bongos? Could be on a drug binge.. Wouldn't be the first

Missing yet transits from indonesia to Thailand. Maybe he was hoping for a 60 minutes payday. They seem to be the easiest way to get ahead atm.

quit your job .

buy a ticket .

get a tan .

fall in love .

never return .

worked for me

Had not heard from him for a few days... There are many in Thailand whose family do not hear from them until they request more money to be sent.

Maybe has some native Aussie blood  ...just gone "Walkabout".

Favorably benign ending to a missing person case. That would be something to, just once, let yourself get caught up in the moment, cut your hair off and say to hell with it all for a while.

It was in Scotland until the Aussies stole it.

That was actually my second suggestion: the bloke could be playing bongos at a beach somewhere. :w00t:

It can be extremely distressing for family and friends when you lose contact with someone like this story. No doubt he'll get a kick in the arse when he gets back home. Anyway ... happy ending.

I have no doubt that 1 hour after "missing person" report was officially lodged, the Oz Feds would have known his passport was used to exit Bali and enter Thailand. From that point on, Thai Immi would've been involved.

If he was staying in a resort, a TM30 search would've narrowed down the locale. It's extremely difficult to remain a "missing person" in todays digital age. Social media networking eventually found this guy.

I have a friend working for Oz Customs & Immi Intelligence Section. Does the Oz Govt know you're in Thailand ?

Yes they do.

That's the 1st thing I noticed also.  Perth is on the west coast of Australia but the New Zealand police investigating.

I am going to guess that he is a NZer who was living in Perth.

If you want to be an outstanding citizen you live in Perth. If you want to get laid, you get your butt to thailand....

Maybe the Perth police had given up caring about this tosser  :whistling:

A quick Google could sort out some of the mystery:

"Josh Goudswaard, from Waikato currently living in Perth, was reported missing this week "

" I'm goin' to the love-in to sit & play my bongos in the dirt "

Oh I get it it is like politics where you pick a running mate. Interesting.

There are a lot of New Zealanders in Australia.

But if he were a New Zealand national, and if he were in Thailand then he would not be in Australia, so what has it to do with Australia???

Again... found by a New Zealander, reported to Australian authorities.

the New Zealanders are simply responding to the fact because the initial reports were made thru them....

at last.. a use for kiwis.
