While you are correct about increased methane and I agree with your sentiment, it's important to note it's BOTH...CO2 as well as the methane. Deforestation is also a BIG problem.

BTW...Been a vegan for nearly 27 years.

And Britain was warmer during the Roman times than it is now. There were vinyards for making wine in Britain back then. Can't have them today, because it's too cold.

Hello, a number of people have pointed out that vinyards do actually exist in Britain today, and I would like to apologise for my error when I said that Britain hasn't got any vinyards today.

The point that Britain was warmer in previous times is still true. Here is a link from the Daily Telegraph, although it is a bit old.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1426744/Middle-Ages-were-warmer-than-today-say-scientists.html

From the article "The findings prove that the world experienced a Medieval Warm Period between the ninth and 14th centuries with global temperatures significantly higher even than today. "
Obviously, they were NOT burning lots of coal between the ninth and 14th centuries. And this was when it was warmer back then than today.  Also, if global warming is suppose to be caused by cattle farting, well, obviously, there's more cattle today than back then. Hence, the increased burning of coal, and far more cattle, has produced a cooler climate today than what it was previously.

Maybe, just maybe, Donald Trump is actually correct when he reckons that burning coal is not actually harming the world that much.

Actually, being a vegetarian is doing good for the planet.  Raising animals for food is harmful to the environment on many levels.  Ask any 5th grader, and she'll tell you several reasons why.   But don't expect animal eaters to know or care why.  Like the average Trump fan, all they care about is their immediate selfish concerns.

Not only is the Global Warming fiasco a huge hoax, it is a testament to the supreme arrogance these people have. Look at me, I'm so important and significant I can forever change the earths climate. Quite grotesque really. As if volcanos havent been spewing greenhouse gasses since time began, grazing animals emitting huge amountsvof methane, natural cycles. Humans are but a blip, a total insignificance in the grand scheme of things. I'm embarrased to be in the company of people that talk about humans changing the climate by spending money on schemes that by their very nature demand more mining, and burning of fossil fuels to create. Fools errands such as wind turbine manufacture. Groan.....

I had this weird idea that is was cow farts that were the principal cause of global warming.

Boomer, are you trying to say, that cattle releasing their gas, is making planet earth warmer ?

I think car720 was trying to be funny when making the cow farts comment.

Animal agriculture is also a significant source of other greenhouse gases.  For example, ruminant animals like cattle produce methane, which is a greenhouse gas about 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide.  The livestock sector is responsible for about 37% of human-caused methane emissions, and about 65% of human nitrous oxide emissions (mainly from manure), globally (UN FAO).

So, they want us to eat less beef, as well as use less electricity. I can see how the Trump theory is becoming more and more acceptable by the day.

Yep! That´s what I thought long time. This man is clearly not aware of his status. Donald Trump sees the climate change as a chinese hoax, and all other fairly intellegent people with none of the sheeps lost sees Donald Trump as a hoax.

Unfortunately he´s far to real for my taste!

With regards to the 97% consensus number which someone spent a lot of time trying to show was not accurate. Don't take one survey there have been many published: http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/11/4/048002 It is an overwhelming consensus throughout though the actual numbers vary from study to study. If you want the most recent a Pew Research Center poll of 3748 AAAS members found an 87% consensus, and the smaller subset of 306 specialists had a 96.7% number. To suggest that scientists are split on this is a misrepresentation of the facts.

So people are asking how will this affect them?

The oceans are going to continue to absorb a lot of that heat, but as they due the water expands and sea levels rise. This also increases the power of hurricanes, melts ice caps (which cause sea levels to rise), and alters habitats and thus the food chain. You can expect heat waves and droughts to become more intense and cold waves to become less intense and a reduction in the moisture of soil. Some diseases will also spread more easily, and land based ecosystems will change, again affecting the food chain. Agriculture will be affected.

Longer term when sea levels rise significantly many coastline cities are going to be in trouble. New Orleans, Amsterdam, Georgetown could become submerged early in those scenarios due to their elevation above sea level. But many coastline areas are at risk. In the shorter term flooding, and damage caused as a result of that will be problematic in more areas. You can see cities like Miami are starting to invest large amounts of money to create pumps and sea walls. Naval yards, harbors, are other high risk areas. Even Trump, despite being a public climate denier has requested permits to build protection on his own properties from the effects of climate change.

And here's the except on regional effects from the U.S. Global Change Research Program:

Quote

Northeast. Heat waves, heavy downpours and sea level rise pose growing challenges to many aspects of life in the Northeast. Infrastructure, agriculture, fisheries and ecosystems will be increasingly compromised. Many states and cities are beginning to incorporate climate change into their planning.

Northwest. Changes in the timing of streamflow reduce water supplies for competing demands. Sea level rise, erosion, inundation, risks to infrastructure and increasing ocean acidity pose major threats. Increasing wildfire, insect outbreaks and tree diseases are causing widespread tree die-off.

Southeast. Sea level rise poses widespread and continuing threats to the region’s economy and environment. Extreme heat will affect health, energy, agriculture and more. Decreased water availability will have economic and environmental impacts.

Midwest. Extreme heat, heavy downpours and flooding will affect infrastructure, health, agriculture, forestry, transportation, air and water quality, and more. Climate change will also exacerbate a range of risks to the Great Lakes.

Southwest. Increased heat, drought and insect outbreaks, all linked to climate change, have increased wildfires. Declining water supplies, reduced agricultural yields, health impacts in cities due to heat, and flooding and erosion in coastal areas are additional concerns.

Just to satisfy your curiosity - if you think climate change is a hoax  : " what climate change  just might ruin"  ( for example : the best part of July 4th... and a multitude of small different impacts on everyday life)

Scientists at the British Met Office warn that Italy may soon be forced to import the basic ingredients to make pasta because climate change will make it impossible to grow durum wheat domestically. The crop could almost disappear from the country later this century, scientists say.

It's obvious, the Globalists are in pure panic mode as they realise that their global warming hoax - which builds the foundation of their demand for food- and fart taxes - is about to be destroyed... by nature itself: Within the next few years we will see the earth cooling down. What a bummer! Time, which is the Globalists' worst enemy, is running, and it's running fast.

The issue is not about whether global warming is a Chinese hoax or not. It's about whether global warming is happening or not, and if it is, is it caused by burning coal.

Is Trump right when he reckons that burning less coal will not help planet earth ?
Let's say that burning coal is actually slowly killing planet earth. I think lots of people simply don't care. I mean, almost none of us will still be around when it gets really bad.

Burning coal is definitely a major factor contributing to global warming. Beijing, one of the worst polluted cities in the world is now taking the step of closing all of its coal fired power stations in an attempt to reduce pollution.

But Trump promised coal miners new jobs as part of his election campaign so I guess he feels obliged to reopen a few coal fired power stations in spite of all the evidence that burning fossil fuels contributes to air pollution and to global warming.

I fear for the future of the planet with this lunatic running the asylum.

5555555555!!! Marc Morano...PLEASE! Are you serious??? He and his website Climate Depot are a JOKE with no credibility whatsoever. He is bought by Big Oil and has zero expertise in this area. He has been dubbed The Climate Misinformer of the Year 2011. He is only taken seriously by Rush Limbaugh and similar ilk...Alex Jones, FOX News, et al. :cheesy::clap2:Certainly NO special interests involved here...

Marc Morano is the executive director and chief correspondent of ClimateDepot.com, a project of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT). Morano is also the Communications Director at CFACT, a conservative think-tank in Washington D.C. that has received funding from ExxonMobil, Chevron, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars from foundations associated with Richard Mellon Scaife. According to 2011 IRS Forms (PDF), Morano was the highest paid staff member with a salary of $150,000 per year. Morano's blog Climate Depot regularly publishes articles questioning man-made global warming.

Although he has no scientific expertise in the area, Morano has become a prominent climate change denier. He has been called “the Matt Drudge of climate denial,” the “King of the skeptics,” and a “central cell of the climate-denial machine.” He was also listed as one of 17 top “climate killers” by Rolling Stone Magazine. He has accused climate scientists of “fear mongering,” and has claimed that proponents of man-made global warming are “funded to the tune of $50 billion.” [15], [16]

From 2006 to 2009, Morano was the communications director for Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the minority chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Prior to the last election, Inhofe was the majority chair of the EPWcommittee. In the 2002 election cycle, Senator Inhofe received more in donations from the oil and gas sector than any other Senator. Sen. Inhofe is known for his infamous quote that the threat of catastrophic global warming is the “greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people,” and as his communications director, Mornano has spent his recent years propagating this message.

According to Marc Morano's archived profile at the Heartland Institute, “Morano joined the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee as the majority Communications Director in June 2006 after a decade and a half as a working journalist, documentary maker, radio talk show host, and national television correspondent.” Apart from being a regular speaker at the Heartland Institute's International Conference on Climate Change, Morano is also listed on their website as a “global warming expert.”

Prior to working for Senator Inhofe, Morano was a journalist with Cybercast News Service, which is owned and operated by the Media Research Center (MRC). The MRC is supported in part by right-wing foundations and funding from industry, including over $200,000 from ExxonMobil. From 1992 to 1996, Morano also worked as a producer for the Rush Limbaugh Television Show and was known as “Limbaugh's man in Washington.” Morano often appears on Fox news to promote his ideas regarding climate change.

Let's see how the mods react. Fair use is their usual argument. Anyway, I hope they let your post alone - I detest censorship of any kind, against anybody.

By whom? By the progressive main stream media, the mother of all fake news?

Now, besides of killing the messenger: Where don't you personally agree with the argumentation or references in my post?

My mistake...it was actually 2012 that Morano earned the title. Rush Limbaugh had the 2011 distinction! Yes, by David Brock's Media Matters for America, but doesn't matter by whom...doesn't change the facts about Morano's Political Science degree, not being a climate scientist nor any type of scientist, has no expertise in climate and the fact that he is so prostituted by Big Oil that the only people who pay any attention to him are the Big Oil lobby, science deniers and their (your) ilk and that he and his website have zero credibility in the field about which he is so vocal.

I have investments in in energy...XOM, COP and natural gas companies, but there is no way I can delude myself into denying the facts, evidence and scientific consensus on the issue.

You presumably didn't read the Bloomberg report I linked to. But I assume you know that burning coal produces carbon dioxide which accumulates in the upper atmosphere trapping heat and accelerating global warming. Here's another link for you which explains the mechanism: http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science_and_impacts/science/CO2-and-global-warming-faq.html

What Trump doesn't seem to understand is that global warming is irreversible. He might think it's a hoax now, but may come to his senses at a later date. What the environmental impact may be by then is anybody's guess but it certainly won't be favourable.

Skeptic7, just be a little bit more sceptic.

In the article you are referring to, it says:

There is no question that increased levels of greenhouse gases must cause the Earth to warm in response.

Ice cores drawn from Greenland, Antarctica, and tropical mountain glaciers show that the Earth’s climate responds to changes in greenhouse gas levels.

In the article there is NO explanation or reference of what made the greenhouse gasses, and with it the temperatures (I guess), go down. AND there is absolutely no reference to sun activity. Does the NASA really suggest, that sun activity has only a minor influence to our climate? What are their findings? CO2 influence = 95%? I mean, they left the sun completely out of their conclusion!

Anyway, give yourself and your fellow cohabitants of this world a few years time to convince yourself that man made global warming is a hoax.

What do you think the UN or any other globalist organisation is entitled to do with the additional coerced "anti-global-warming" tax money? Bomb Africans because they start using air-conditioners? Or bombing yourself because you still like and eat beef?

Give yourself some time to wake up and realise the Globalist do-gooders are not our friends.
