Members of Don Daengchantip’s family hold his portrait next to his coffin on Monday during a protest at a junta complaint center in Bangkok.

BANGKOK — Relatives of a man who died during a police raid on a gambling den carried his dead body to a police station and government office Monday to demand swift prosecution of the officers involved.

Seven police officers were charged with fatal reckless conduct Saturday over the incident, in which they kicked and beat Don Daengchantip, 34, until he lost consciousness and later died. An autopsy report showed Don suffered serious head trauma and bruising, according to a representative of his family.

They have every right to protest this brutality and I for one wish them luck in their efforts to seek justice.

No. No. ACCIDENT. HIM. UNLUCKY.

when the <deleted> in charge even said his men were not there, and video evidence, there is no hope when liars like this are in charge, and they go on about tarnishing their image. doing ok by themselves.

Anywhere else in the world, yes.....but here it's likely going to be claimed as self defence.....

The family are indeed brave people highlighting yet again what cowards  the RTP are.  Good job the Army is getting them under control.

Possibly not in Thailand - it will probably be put into the too hard basket and forgotten.

Think they will need a lot more than luck to achieve justice.

"fatal reckless conduct", officials contorting their brain functions to come up with the best euphemisms... it was a hazing ritual!

The American police justify killing people all the time as self defense.

I am not a big fan of this Govt, but if they have the stones to reform the police from top to bottom, they will be remembered as the most efficient government Thailand has ever had..

No its called sloppy police work leaving evidence behind. They rushed the beating and it went horribly wrong. They should have covered him in phone books and then did the dirty deed. As in this article there will be much hue and cry and then dead silence. The family did right by going to the police station and drawing media attention the this horrendous crime but but but............

if... just if

even a gigantic IF

“…assured them that the seven officers had been charged and would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

"Let's see. Which laws will we use to prosecute them today?"

The law here is like Groucho Marx' principles:   Those are my principles (our laws), and if you don't like them... well, I (we) have others.

"Despite evidence of abuse on Don’s body, Kritsana said it’s still too early to pinpoint whether police actions were to blame for the suspect’s death."

“Forensic science examination results are considered evidence, but ultimately it is up to the investigators to conclude,” Kritsana said Monday. “Evidence comes in many parts and many forms.”

What the hell does this c..p mean?  Sounds to me like some kind of get out clause.

Hey,,,,   we have been told,  be fair and don't damge our image...!

So several BIB kicking a man to death, then lieing about it, then video evidence is given so they are charged with fatal reckless conduct.

Let's pick the bits that suits our purposes best and discard, ignore pieces that don't irrespective of relevance.
