DSI to arrest Dhammachayo if he fails to surrender this Wednesday

Thailand should be a leading member of NATO - no action talk only.

How many plans do they need. Arrive at the temple in force, read him his rights, cuff him and drive away. Anyone trying to stop this gets nicked as well. End of.

By Wednesday? You mean by Wednesday midnight, right? Can't go in first thing in the morning.

I also hear the police have a plan. But you know they don't have a plan because they haven't told us what it is. Like kids they can't help but show off how clever they are.

An immediate arrest if he fails to turn himself in ?

Will that be after a committee is formed to decide the next move then issues another press release, possibly with a deadline extension, and after those at the top have had their say which will be the usual ' not meddling and leaving to the relevant agencies ' ?

One of the junta's New Year gifts to the nation will probably be a continuation of this soap opera.

It occurs to me that the ONLY people left in Thailand now who could overthrow a government are the 'monkhood'.

They are untouchable. Even the highest-level generals quake and quiver at the thought of opposing them!

I am just kidding, of course!

and then the old warrant will have expired and they will have to seek yet another warrant to do the same arrest...

I think this is the third attempt to ask Dhammachayo to surrender. It failed the last couple of times and didn't even get a whimper of a respond from the holy man. The man is not cowed by all these threats and tomorrow will be just another day and will pass like any ordinary Wednesday. Forget the diplomacy and soft invitation to surrender. Get in there and do the necessary job and don't expect a welcoming committee. Or maybe this is not the right time to stir the hornet nest. No one in the government will have the courage to order a crackdown and suffer the wrath of the aftermath at this sensitive time.

This is no longer to be surpassed in absurdity.
There existing since a long time arrest warrants, which are simply not enforced.
If this continues, the monk can use them as new Wallpaper in his private rest rooms.

If the UFO monk boss is such a hot potato, why is he always warned beforehand?
Maybe they can lure him out with an unsecured fake cash check or pass the job to Dirty Harry.

Embarrassing the whole.

What is it with Thailand's infatuation with Groundhog Day? :saai:

Yes, perhaps when they make these announcements they assume people will fail to remember almost identical versions of them from a few months earlier...

Does anyone, and that includes the authorities, honestly believe he's going to turn himself in ?

I'm sure the media releases containing all the excuses, promises of vague plans of action etc are already prepared and can easily be given to the media today for publication first thing tomorrow while all the main actors will be rehearsing their lines ready to face the press and cameras and without blinking explain it all away.
