I have a letter that I must send to the USA and I want to be able to track it and get it there in a few days.    FedEx is my first choice but  their are no FedEx offices where I live in Minburi.     Does the Thai post office offer this type of service  and haks anyone used this service?

Thai Post, EMS or Registered, will give you a Tracking number.  This will work up until departure, then it should be picked up by the USPS and tracked on their www site.  This doesn't always happen, tho, but usually works.

When I've sent EMS the problem with speed of delivery occurs in the US. If the item is going to a major city, it can be quick, but anything further afield can really get bogged down. I've used EMS a number of times to the states. It is reliable and relatively speedy, but ultimately the last leg depends on the USPS, which is getting worse as times goes on. The Thai Post Office tracking service is far more dependable that is USPS's ... although, again, once the item is in the US it too depends on USPS tracking.

If you really need something to get to a recipient in the US "in a few days" you'd be better off with FedEx or UPS using the service that guarantees delivery in x days.

You are sadly mistaken on the US post office, it is the fastest in the world by far. When your letter gets to them it will be delivered in no more than two days usually one. I sent a letter from here three weeks ago for 90 baht and it has not arrived yet in the US, I think it is on a ship with bananas or something. I have mailed and received thousands of letters in the US and never more than a couple days.

Thanks for the replies.   I sent the letter this morning by EMS at the post office.

My business partner sent a t-shirt to US via EMS and door to door was 7 days.

I would not use Fed Ex for anything. They are a bunch of idiots. I have had good luck with DHL.

Example I lost my Debit card, my bank used Fed Ex to ship the replacement "overnight" The package was shipped from the US on a Friday, it was received in BKK on Monday, on Thursday Fed Ex delivered a notice to the Mansion I live that they Could Not Locate the Address, They delivered a notice to the location they could not locate!!!  took them 11 days to deliver an overnight letter. at a price of around $70.00.

Then there is also a political reason, Fed Ex wishes to replace the (unionized) 200+ year old efficient US Postal Service, and lobbied, (paid) members of Congress to eliminate it. They created a law requiring the Postal service to pay Benefits for employees that have not yet been born. Plus, Fed Ex required their employees to lease their delivery vehicles, pay the company for insurance, and pay the company mechanics to perform maintenance on the vehicles. A San Francisco Judge fined the company for that violation of labor law. F*** Fed Ex.

Although I agree the USPS is very efficient, I do not find them the "Best" in 1975± my experience with the German Bundespost was excellent. A surface 1st class, (equivalent) delivery was usually made the following day anywhere in the country.

The contactless stuff has a limit of 30 or 50 quid I think.

Just imagine if you can slide in a compromised payment terminal into a busy shop?

And no doubt that is exactly what the attackers are working on.

I've had good luck and not so good luck using the Thai postal service. I sent very important and timely papers to New Hampshire with EMS and they arrived in 4 days. I sent a registered letter to Texas and it took 18 days and it's says out for delivery but never confirmed delivery.

I suggest you use the Thai post office app to track it. Also track it in the USA with the same number at the USPS tracking web site.

Not surprising, since Germany is a lot smaller than the US.  In fact, it's about half the size of Texas, and at little over 400 miles between the furthest points in the country, it's easy to see that any location could be served within a day.

Sounds correct. As I mentioned a few days is not a reasonable estimate.

DHL express takes around 3 business days and is much more reliable.

True, but friends that work for USPS have told me that letter & small packages are shipped via Air for outside the sending State.
