Immigration At Prom Tues Dec 6th

Should have known better than to try to do a 90 day report today.  Closure of the airport office and extra demand from yesterday resulted in huge crowds and by 2pm they'd run out of tickets for 90 reports reports.  I imagine there'll be a lot of people who won't get seen for other requirements.  The point in reporting this is to mention that they have occupied a number of offices to the left of the copy shop for different types of application (although I expect you still need a ticket from the girls sitting out in front) but if you are collecting a marriage visa you can bypass all the mayhem and go directly to office number 1 which helpfully has no sign on the window and they will sort you out in double quick time.  The line to have your paperwork checked and get a ticket was very long and all the seats inside and outside the main office were oversubscribed.

So to clarify; are you suggesting the annual marriage extension that was previously carried out at the Airport is now in this office number 1 and although the mayhem is the main office you still need to get marriage documents checked by a student; which was the job of a senior Officer at the Airport.

Is there any reason to suggest we need to bring the tent and bbq and a dvd player to see us through the sunrise which was the case at Airport Imm.

i went today to one of these side offices near photo copy for a certificate of residence no waiting B500 pick up tomorrow Pm. The signage could be better the place I went to had no signage! Others also near photo copie had only a piece of paper taped on the door.

God bless Thai Post. Haven't set foot in Immigration since my One-year renewal.

Amen. I haven't set foot inside Immigration except for the annual one year renewal (which only takes about 2 hours), in about 9 years now.

Eyecatcher:

No.  I'm saying that if you have applied for a marriage extension, waited your month and it's ready to be stamped in your passport, you can go directly to Room 1.  I'm sure that if you are making the application you'll have to line up and get your papers checked and then wait your turn in the normal way.  It may be that they will have someone more senior checking the marriage extension paperwork (and of course it may be that they will change the whole system by next week).

It's only the first couple of working days for the whole unit over at Prom and I'm quite sure they will sort things out better before long.  In any event, it's a step up from when the whole carnival was over at the airport.

EXACTLY.

Is there a reason people MUST step-in the door vs sending it by post with EMS return...?

Masochistic to go to Promenada at 5-6am etc if it can be done by post ? All these people tying up slots needlessly.

Not so sure with what the fuss is about. I have never done my 90 day by mail and I've been here for 7 yrs or so. I find going around 2 pm that a person can usually be in & out in less than 30 mins.. My last one I reported here on TV that it took a whopping 15 mins.. There has only been one occasion where it took nearly 90 minutes but that was a few yrs back at the airport location and it appeared to be a very congested day for whatever reason.

BTW, anyone who has been doing this long enough knows to never go on the day before or after a pubic holiday. Also try to avoid Mondays and Fridays.....

The online 90 day reporting system now works very well. I have used it successfully the last three times. Once you get used to the system it can be done in 5 minutes, from the comfort of your home. An official acknowledgement comes back by email about an hour later. You print this out and put it in your passport. Much better than mailing it in or going to Promenada.

So this doesn't turn into yet another "Million Ways To Do 90 Days" thread, I should mention that the primary reason for going yesterday was to get a marriage visa stamp - I just thought I might get a chance to do my 90DR while I was there.

Well, no, there are only like four ways to do a 90 day report that I'm aware of:

1.  Pay a visa agent to do them for you

2.  Go do them in person so you have the fun of reporting on Thai visa what's the best time-of-day/day-of-the-week to rock into Imm.

3.  Report by post  (Incidentally, does anyone know if the address changed with the move to @Prom?)

4.  Report online following carefully curated directions handed down to us by the ever-wise Tywais in the pinned thread at the top of this forum on an ancient laptop that is retained in the household just for this purpose (i.e. the "Lucky Laptop", purchased in 2006).  None of our newer devices have any "luck" with the Imm. reporting system.  You do know that computer years at like dog years and this poor laptop is now very elderly, right?

Online 90 day reporting has never worked for me, tried everything, every way, no go. Tried the postal 90 day service, for the first three times all worked well, then the fourth time up to date receipt not returned. Had to visit the old immigration branch to explain, the guy with the glasses made me do a sing and dance routine before issuing me an up to date 90 day receipt.

That was it for me, never again. Not prepared to have a wasted journey to the zoo if all slots are taken, not prepared to have to hang about for hours if I happen to be unlucky and pick a wrong time on a bad day. Now I use the G4T agency, pay 300 baht and completed in 20 minutes, sometimes less. So what`s the problem?

yes   simarlar with E/S,  a couple years back ,then engaged a trustworthy visa agent to solve the poor service etc etc ,   and have,nt had a hitch since

the problem is,   the penny has, nt  dropped,  with the baht pinchers, or the dreamboats  etc etc  who are unable to come  to terms of paying a additional measely sum, to secure  a   FAST  service,  that erases any  problems,   which may occur at the Immgr Dept,   our Aussie  Consulate who visit Cmai , have extra fee,s in place for  FAST  services  needed

and  E/S  has  paid  very happily each time, i have used them,   sure some punters get through, at the Immgr  Dept flying solo, but the majority  hit turbelance,  in some form or another, with the present  system in place. etc etc

its   a   lovely  R.E.M. morning to all

I tried mailing once.  I never got an answer.  I went to Immigration (on the airport road) on the last day and I had to stand in line and in the sun for a long time to do it at that time.  As cyberfarang said, ".... never again.".  And I have not mailed again.  I use the online option when it works for me.  If that doesn't work, I use an agent.

Obviously the decree of about a month ago stating that CoR is free has fallen by the way side.

The run around with that decree seemed like a right kok up....no doubt many will be happier with the reintroduction of the 500 baht get your certificate tomorrow scheme.

And yes we all know that Americans can go to their embassy, pay US $50 for the same thing. Now we can't 'Trump' that one can we...... but we can have a good laugh! ?

You forgot one very important way... leave the country every 88 days.  It's great fun, relaxing, wonderful memories and good for the soul.

Just checking, what's the current background color required for an RV?

Many thanks

White background is working just fine.

The Thai Post has never failed me in 4 years.  Make the required copies,  label the envelopes, EMS both ways, something like 60 baht, track them if you want to... and get the receipt usually within 6 days.
