The Hammers play their final competitive game at their 112-year home against Manchester United on Tuesday. West Ham will move to the 60,000-capacity London 2012 Olympics venue next season. Obviously don't want to get involved in this southern / cockeynee love in, but from my northern perspective and following football from the late 60's, if I had to pick a list of teams who I thought were the old Div 1 / Premier league main teams, WHU would definitely be in it. WHU, back when I was an impressionable age, were my favourite london team, could be cause of Greaves (his debut goal in one of my earliest games at Maine Road), could be because of the 3 world cup winners, could be because of Billy Bonds who I greatly admired.
