BANGKOK: -- Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 32 year old man who they say raped the Aussie tourist in Bangkok. 

 

After the victim had told them that he was a tuk-tuk driver the police were thrown off the scent. But having studied CCTV footage in the Khao Sarn area as well as along the route to the area of the rape - waste ground along Baromratchachonanee Road - they believe they have got their man. 

 

He is a "win" or motorcycle taxi rider called Ekburut Ritrakkhaphan. He has a previous offence for molesting a woman who was mentally deficient, reports Thairath. 

 

Taling Chan police said that the images from CCTV at the end of Soi Rambutri outside the Sri Ayuthaya bank clearly show the man driving around looking for a potential victim. 

 

He was riding a Honda Wave 110i. 

 

A warrant has been issued for his arrest. 

 

The incident last weekend was originally thought to have been perpetrated by a tuk-tuk driver but this was disproved by police who shifted their attention to other potential suspects despite the evidence given by the 21 year old tourist who has not been named. 

 

She admitted that she was very drunk at the time after drinking all night in Khao Sarn Road with other tourists.

Here's yet another case where well-meaning people have been too lenient on a wrongdoer and now someone else has suffered.

Some people just don't have any empathy for others. No amount of advice or teaching will change them and they will continue to commit offences. Society needs to recognise that fact and deal with these people properly.

We need to take action to prevent future instances rather than making useless "don't blame the victim" posts and accusing all men of not knowing wrong from right.

For example, don't give taxi driver's licences to convicted sex offenders.

Another strange rape story. From 2 men in a tuk tuk to 1 man on his motorcycle. Then the man is on the motorcycle is accused of the rape even before he is arrested and forensic evidence taken.
Oh well its the 15th today still 4 days left until the victim leaves for Australia. Hope it's solved soon and we get to see a big press conference with pats on the back and the man in cuffs with his motorcycle keys, wallet and watch on the table in front of him. Then a statement saying Thailand is safe please come and enjoy our hospitality.

When the cops said they wanted this case wrapped up by the end of the week, you knew something was wrong. I understand police saying we want to find the culprit asap. But you can't give a convenient timeline that coincides with when the lady is leaving. These things take as long as they take. It's looking like someone will be arrested and charged for this. Hope it's the right person, as arresting and charging the wrong person would be worse than no arrest at all for the lady in question. Awfully convenient for the police though.

I notice there is no picture of the lady on the motorbike. 

I'm not ruling out the tuk tuk driver just yet. She has said there were 2. 

It's quite possible the motorbike had words with the tuk tuk driver. 

Brave girl for coming forward, might save someone else.

How do they differentiate between the above and a motor cycle taxi driver riding around looking for a potential customer ?  Was he salivating heavily??

They Taze him in the balls 'till he says the truth...

But win motorcycles generally don't drive around looking for customers. They have a station and if they 'trespass' on another groups turf there maybe beef.

Manhunt now launched for rape suspect of an Aussie tourist 

 

BANGKOK: -- Bangkok police are now hunting for a former 32-year-old motorcycle taxi and charity worker after gaining strong evidence that he might be the suspect who raped a 21-year-old Australian tourist at an abandoned building in Bangkok last Monday.

 

Identified the suspect as Ake-burut Ritrakphan, 32, pressure was also mounted on his family to persuade the fugitive to turn himself in to the police immediately as his crime has greatly damaged the country’s tourism image which authorities are restoring.

 

Arrest warrant has been issued by the court.

 

Metropolitan Police Bureau commissioner Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn confirmed the Aussie tourist was raped, dismissing earlier police assumption of her rape story just because she was able to report her sexual assault fast.

 

The police commissioner said a physical examination by doctors has revealed traces of semen in the her birth cavity.

But the ethnicity of the source however has not been determined.

 

Further tests will have to be made.

 

The commissioner said rape is a complicated matter and depends on many criteria such as whether the victim is older than 15 years and whether there was actual consent or was the intercourse forced.

 

If consent was given and the victim was older than 15 years of age then it was not a crime.

 

But in any event the police have an initial assumption that it was rape as semen was found in her body.

That's right. What's significant is its not the first time this guy has done this. And how many times has he done it that have not been reported.

She was found wandering after the alleged attack by a thai women nearby.The lady took her to the nearest police station.

 

Thats why she was able to report it so FAST!...........does the cop not know the full story

The allegations that this woman lied about the incident made international news. Fortunately, her name wasn't mentioned in reports (at least that I've seen), but I can only imagine how, after all that she's experienced, it would feel to be very publicly doubted. It also might discourage other women from coming forward in future. I just wish that the police here would stick to the facts until their investigations are complete. Under the circumstances, it may have been reasonable for the police to have some doubts about the story, but that shouldn't be publicised until all the facts are in and those doubts are on firmer ground. In this case, it seems the doubts turned out to be unfounded, so the police look ridiculous and the woman has had to endure more humiliation.

After being harangued by police and being accused of a false complaint on top of the humiliation, it is no wonder many rape victims do not report it.

Ekburut Ritrakkhaphan, 32, seen in an image from a security camera with an Australian woman on his motorcycle traveling from the Khok Wua junction near Khaosan Road to an abandoned building where she said she was assaulted in the early hours of Dec. 5.

 

BANGKOK — A man accused of sexually assaulting an Australian tourist was arrested early Thursday morning.

 

Ekburut Ritrakkhaphan was captured in the northeastern province of Sakon Nakhon where police said he fled from Bangkok after he emerged as a suspect in the rape of a 23-year-old Australian woman earlier this month.

Seems a long way, 650+ klms, for an innocent man to run. That alone leads to credence that he has something to hide. Of course he may have just wanted to see mommy. Seems funny how these fugitives always feel the need to run back to hide behind mommys skirt.

 Does anybody know what follow up, If any, a sex offender receives? Any treatment?  Chemical castration?  Psychological assessment?  Anything?

Who knows why?  Maybe guilt after the fact, attentiion seeking, playing behind a partner's back, myriad reasons.  There are weirdo women as well as men.

When raped without a severe beating, it's very difficult to prove. Usually the woman drops the case because it is near impossible to prove. Then the guys bs story that it was consensual is published as fact. Almost all rapes of female and especially male go unreported largely because of the above.

Yes, and because of the asshat police headlines she was not raped and social media chiming in, this guy has been given all the ammo he needs to fight this case. Not to mention every piece of damning footage of this girl drunk being published for the defense to have a field day. But this man has been to prison for molestation before and that didn't stop him. Next time it might be a young thai girl and not so lucky to be left alive. 

Those police better get this guy locked up. Or thailand will pay the price later.
