Tourists flock to Pattaya for Constitution Day weekend

The weather was hot so picnics in the shade were preferred over the long busy weekend.

PATTAYA:-- Not everyone in Thailand gets Constitution Day as a holiday, but there were enough who did to make Pattaya a busy place for last week’s three-day weekend.

This year Dec. 10, the day Thailand commemorates the transition to a constitutional monarchy, which passed in 1932, fell on Saturday, so the legal holiday was observed on Monday.

Traffic – not politics – was on the minds of tourists visiting Pattaya Dec. 10-12, with Sukhumvit Road jammed and connecting thoroughfares suffering follow-on congestion.

Once they arrived, tourists packed Pattaya, Jomtien and Koh Larn beaches. Vendor Maiporn Banjongsut said she loves every long weekend she can get, as high season is not as good as it once was.

Yeah I was a bit worried , I am driving down from C.M to Pattaya on Sunday so hope the traffic will be kind to me.

At least I am not aware of another holiday.

And coming in on Sunday afternoon is not the worst option as you go against the flow (Bangkokians returning home).

And as the report says " high season is not as good as it once was.".

By theory peak season has started.

Indeed only the "white collar workers" (government officers, bankers).

This Monday was a no-event for most of the ordinary people.

Traffic was very light all the way , no problems at all , it took me around 9 hours from Chiang Mai to Pattaya including 4 breaks .

TAT propaganda props. We all know that Pattaya has gone downhill and this is the lowest high season ever. These are all paid shills designed to inflate the numbers. Obviously somebody's making tea money out of all this.
