BANGKOK, 19th December 2016 (NNT) – The Department of Skills Development (DSD) has launched a project providing free vehicle check-up services for the New Year holidays in an attempt to minimize road accidents.

The DSD Director-General Teerapol Khunmuang revealed the Minister of Labour Gen Sirichai Distakul had expressed his care towards the general public travelling back to their hometowns during the New Year holidays which will cause a significant increase in the volume of traffic.

He said it is an important objective of the department to help the government reduce the number of road accidents during the holidays, thus resulting in the campaign run by the DSD providing free vehicle check-up services promoting safe driving.

The campaign will include free check-up services for cars and motorcycles at various service points across the country during the 7-day period from 29th December 2016 to 4th January 2017, and training in basic engine maintenance by highways and traffic staff.

The DSD will also provide a tourism attractions direction service and rest points with foods, drinks, and relaxing massages along main roads as New Year gifts for commuters.

So may'be travel during the "dangerous days" will result in a much more  "happier ending" than normal.

Sorry.

How many Thais will take advantage of this free-check-up?  How many accidents are supposedly caused by brake failure?  A falang second-hand car has a premium attached to it because it's been serviced regularly.

Sorry.

Tourism baht spending has to always enter the equation.

all very well getting it checked, but will they fix the defects,no because that would come out of the holiday budget.

Methinks the defects are not so much in the vehicle well maybe it is the driver.
