Jasmine rice exports jump 16% this year

BANGKOK:-- The Office of Agricultural Economics has announced a good news that will make Thai farmers happier as now Thai rice exports are showing strong signs of expanding.
 

It said rice exports for 2016 exceeded previous year’s exports by 16%.

 

The announcement of good news was revealed jointly by the Office of Agricultural Economics, and the Center for Applied Economics at Kasetsart University.

 

The director of the Operations Center with the Office of Agricultural Economics Mr Bhumisak Rasri, and the acting director of the Center for Applied Economics at Kasetsart University Mr Kampanart Phen-Supha, jointly announced that Thailand’s jasmine rice won the prize for the World’s Best Rice 2016 in a competition that was organized in Chiang Mai province on November 18th, 2016.

Is this the thread where we are allowed to post fake news?

 

Must have been some pretty good months in October-December 2016, because they were darn good in 2015.

 

2016 Jan-September = 6,853,691 tons

2015 Jan-September = 6,610,344 tons

 

+3.7%, but not 16%.

 

To be fair "Jasmine rice exports jump 16% this yearand "rice exports for 2016 exceeded previous year’s exports by 16%" is not the same.
