Looking for a good "local"

Up to a few months ago I lived in a 1 room apartment off Silom Rd.   Always plenty to do and always plenty of other expats around.   I have now moved to a place called "Town in Town Village" sort of in between Lat Prao Rd and Ramkamheang Rd.   More space and lower cost.   There seems to be a lot of young expats around, probably because of all the modelling and casting agencies in this village.   Problem is there do not seem to be very many older (~65 years old) expats about nor do there seem to be many expat pubs around.

So, can anyone tell me where the best local expat pub can be found (local to Town in Town village that is) ?   I am not looking for a Soi Cowboy bar (but if you know there is one here please do let me know), what I am looking for is a place where older expats have a beer and a meal and pass the time of day (or night).

Look forward to hearing back from you all.

Judging by the map you out in never never land, get on the bus and head to where you know, or just hangout localy you never know who will turn up...life can be an adventure...

Lot's of cool cafe's and coffee shops in "T-in-T" but I have gone to a number of social events there and never seen a pub nearby with any kind of a farang vibe.  Both the "Town in Town" and "SC Park" hotels cater to mostly Thai and other Asian clientele.  Most of the westerners around there are going or coming from castings.

At least you can enjoy some of the best seafood in Bangkok at "Op Aroy", just up from the Starbucks.

Quite right dddave.  Op Aroy has got to be the best value seafood restaurant in Bangkok!   You are also right about there being no pubs around with a farang vibe.   All very Thai.   Where are you?   You seem to know the area pretty well.

Heading back to where I was before kinda defeats the purpose, and removes the adventure!

-there are many TiT villages/moo baans and many are in off-Lardprao sois.

-most of those youngies are more likely exchange students for RKH uni-they stay just 4-6 monthes

-from what i see most farang living there have the usual ''Thai wife'' who will guard them to not stay outhouse too much. They all seem to go shoping of course in Bangkapi-the Mall and the big tesco and the Happyland market right beside.

-most farang only seem to cluster with those who speak their own langauge- as I assume you are Brit or al least speaking thus, you likely will not be too amused with groups of germans or dutch or french, who do indeed have some kind of meet-spot in that rough area. You may also have noted that RKH-road is more+more getting into the muslim vibe with new ditto hotel and a steady rising nr of people from there. again unlikely you much ant to mingle with them.

Hmm... Thanks for your input.   There is only one T-in-T village near Op Aroy and only one T-in-T village that appears on Google maps, which of course is not to say that you are wrong, but putting that aside you have made a number of assumptions about who I am and what I like, all of which seem to be based on your own preconceived ideas.   And all of which are wrong.   But never mind, and again, thanks for your input.

I'm often one of the many farangs wandering around trying to find some obscure casting studio. You have probably noticed the arcane soi numbering system in place in T-in-T.  Finding these places can be a challenge.  I do occasional acting in TV commercials which means appearing at many castings.

I actually live a fair distance away in Phra Khanong.

Well next time you are in the area drop in for a coffee or a beer.

I assume that there is some way to email privately on this site.
