One slap or 99 it's the same thing. There is no way to rationalise any violence against children.

I never said said you condone this incident.

I have said all along any and all violence against children is wrong.

Fear has no place in the classroom.

By the way, what makes you assume you know my gender?

Like your grasp of history and how to teach you are way off the mark.

Or is it a puerile attempt at flaming as in your alt right mindset there is something wrong with being a woman?

Here you go again....  I assumed that from your profile picture. It's actually quite small on my phone. Having taken the trouble to now open it. I can see it's not. Sorry for that assumption if I'm wrong.

I suspect this lady teacher herself was beaten up as a kid and it's in her genes to do the same to other kids.  Too much beating and sexual abuse in this country .

Every case that reach the news is a good thing , it used to be hidden under the carpet.

2nd paragraph above: Oh yes, let's think of as many ways as possible to justify this blatant abuse which deserves firing and jail time at minimum.

You feel better after writing that? Let's run it by the abused child, the horrified classmates and enraged mother.

I think you've missed his point.

He's trying to point out that the training this teacher had was insufficient. I didn't get him making excuses for her hitting the kid, only offering criticism of her training.

I think he's missing the issue by 100 miles. The issue isn't about training. It's about human decency.

I've seen some pretty cruel, fully- trained teachers both here and in my home country. The misanthropes need to be weeded out.

Assaulting children is  serious crime. This teacher should get 1000 slashes with the stick and then suspended forever!

If you think so you're no different... Just acting on a different level but the substance is the same.

The kid is just 9 years old, still learning about and remembering all the rules.

Teacher should be punished with jail time and banned from any contact with children for life.

If the teacher has any kids I hope there's a serious investigation into into their welfare.

It's since been reported that the little boy is just 7 years old, not 9 years old.

Caning.... Is a form of corporal punishment. It's not assault. Please look it up.

It's an offence to keep someone against their own will, so by comparison with your view, we shouldn't imprison anyone either..... Yes, of course that sounds stupid but so does your comparison between corporal punishment and assault.

I don't think you should be teaching if you can't make simple distinctions like this one.

Perhaps your being too pedantic about dictionary definitions, rather then look at the specific case.

Thanks, just wanted to be sure that you weren't talking about something else as it seems like you haven't read my exchanges regarding this topic...... I clearly stated many times that this particular case was 'assault'..... my argument was with another poster who says corporal punishment is assault, I disagreed and said while this case was assault (99 lashes), other cases of corporal punishment are not assault, it's punishment.

No.

Its assault.

It's violence.

Violence is not discipline.

It's the last resort of inept, incompetent adults masquerading as educators.

You're entitled to your view and so am I. My view as I've said is that the case in question was assault. What you're talking about is not.

And my view is you're wrong.

As you are on your notion fear leads to respect.
