You are absolutely spot on. I'm a mature adult male, but the 12 year old boy I was will never leave me. Who the hell wants to grow old.

Nothing to do with getting old, but developing more discerning tastes. I don't enjoy the same books I read when I was 12, or playing "Cowboys and Indians", or watching Bugs Bunny cartoons either.

If one requires intellectual stimulation, then surely one should be smart enough not to watch a space war, sci-fi movie?

I don't agree with it having to be mental stimulation, after all, movies are about entertainment, I just don't find the Star Wars movies particularly entertaining. Now, if I want to see a good Sci-Fi movie, give me the likes of Alien, Blade Runner, Contact, A Space Odyssey, Interstellar, The Martian etc.

I think now the Disney Corp have control of the franchise they will just churn out  2 pictures a year and get the huge sum of $ back they paid for it, it was ok but could have been awsome, find the plans to the Death Star and pass to the rebels to help launch attack and destroy it before it is fully operational, kill a few bad guys along the way and finish where it all began in possession of princess ready to get to Obi-one...

Still a good way to spend an hour or so and yeah be a kid again....!

Nothing wrong with those sci-fi's you mentioned...I enjoyed them as well.  The Star Wars franchise is a bit different, having been one of the first (from the 1977 original).  But the last two have been a bit less cartoonish than the first 6, which may not please everyone.  Regardless, they know the public is pretty discerning, so they can't just patch together a mess with substandard special effects, even with the brand name.  There's a reason why Star Wars movies make a gazillion dollars...notwithstanding some of the geezers on this thread.

I thought it was alright, some good nods to the other movies/lines etc and some good little moments the new re-programmed imperial droid is about the best new character in it, some of the mass attack scenes near end are good but the depth of characters was very lacking.

So somewhere in a galaxy far far away there is a english speaking dark hero with a heavy spanish accent getting his thing down...? The lead girl was quite good and the droid for me, I enjoyed it but I have always liked Star Wars, was just a spin off from original but nowhere near as good, also the Peter Cushing character revitalised, how they do that is ait an actor double or some sort of CGI? that was good, thought last movie was better overall

Sorry your happy little world where white males solve every problem was disrupted.  If you don't like seeing people of color in major roles, why don't you see...oh, I don't know, just about ANY OTHER FREAKING FILM OUT THERE!! The fact that the heroes were not all white men for a change is one of the best things about Rogue One (and there are plenty of other good things about it as well).

What are you smoking ...? or you are just a complete Loon!

In 'dark' I was referring to the fact the character of the lead male role has dark tendencies (i.e. will assassinate/kill someone at the blink of an eye) Your tirade of accusing me of racism is totally wide of the mark and uncalled for, you need to have a coke and a smile...

Really if you have hang ups about 'white men' then there are forums where you can seek help.... LMFAO!!!

Darth Vader and the imperial forces are in need dire need of an IT security expert. They store their blueprints to the Death Star on unencrypted optical discs on what appears to be an over sized jukebox, carousel. No back up? No raid mirroring?

Also the switch for the shield was in the middle of the garden? I would have probably wired that one inside the fortress.

They can block all signals with the shield but nobody ever told them how to jam frequencies on the surface to disrupt the rebels?

Lord Vader should choke everybody involved, I feel like he and the dark side might live to regret some of their choices. They could have consulted lord Ochoa -chan from the chan clan to help them with a single gateway solution. That would be pretty reasonable if you were evil and trying to limit communications.

If you were asleep for most of the movie how do you know it was the worst movie you've ever seen?!

Maybe it is the worst movie that you've not seen?!

Unfortunately, I woke up too many times and got a good doze of this nightmare. This epic failure of a film had poor acting and a silly plot. You have to have a brain of a third grader to enjoy this trash. I heard that it has been voted one of the top 10 worst movies of 2016. Look it up. Not that I need confirmation of this junk movie.

So now you are changing your sleeping story? Probably not wise to take your movie review too seriously then.

What on Earth are you talking about?  The first Star Wars?  The special effects in Rogue One was far superior to any of the previous Star Wars (well the most recent was on par).  I'm pretty certain George Lucas would agree.

to each his own but i thought the models were way too sterile in this episode,, and not that many great special effects for this far into the franchise, i didnt look real it looked a miniature set,  just my opinion,, i  was disappointed in this episode

I was very disappointed by Rogue One. Special effects brought nothing new to the saga. The great strength of the first Star Wars movie were the characters (as well as special effects) and outlandish situations they found themselves in.  Here the characters were boring, as was the worn-out storyline. Movie was full of cliches (imagery, unoriginal characters, script and story).  Darth Vader might as well have been a cardboard cutout figure; Imperial Troopers, as warriors, were about as effective as Apache horse-divers from the cheapest old westerns. I love movies, and i can't believe it but I, too, fell asleep part way through. Sacrilege that a movie cloned from a legendary classic could have that effect on me. I would recommend that, unless you're an out-and-out bone-headed geek who still fondles your first light sabre occasionally, you'd do well to save your money and avoid the heartbreak this movie will dish out to you.
