Hi there,

I am about to transfer money from Europe to Kasikorn bank but just for curiosity like to check if the given account number is correct. Is there any online tool I can verify it.

In Europe it is easy to check ie IBAN-acoount if it is valid or not online...

Thank you in advance for your valuable info

Doubt it sincerly, but do you or any of your friends have a Thai bank account and can access it online  ? If so, then you /they can add a new payee in Thai Bank account and select to transfer money to that account. Before actually sending the money the name of the person should appear and thus you can check if the account is valid or not and cancel the transaction.

Or if you / they don't have online banking, they can also do it via an ATM.

Hope this helps

I doubt that such tool can exist.

Account numbers are typically 10 digits and just contain the branch number of the bank in the first three digits (and not even sure whether this applies to all banks).

But the number as such does not contain the info which bank it belongs to.

Not guaranteed to be unique within the country.

Whether the last digit of the account number is a checksum?

I don't know..

As @MJCM describes you would need a trusted person with Kasikorn internet banking/account in Thailand whom you send the number.

He could come back with the name of the account owner.

@KhunBenq

That trusted person doesn't need to have a kasikorn account perse.

I see with my BBL or SCB accounts the names of the payees who have accounts with several different banks in Thailand after I enter their account number to add a payee, or sometimes only see their names when I make a payment to them.

Yep.

Blackout on my side.

It works at least among the "major" banks (Bangkok, SCB, Kasikorn, Krungthai from my experience, likely many others).

Only example where it did not work was a transfer to the agricultural bank ( BAAC) where I had to send "blind" to the given number. Also no express/immediate transfer possible (from Bangkok Bank).
