Shame if it can only be used on calm days. Ticket refunds available I am sure. Before buying said ticket check the weather channel. Thats the problem....This Cat has a small beam and will not handle like a Cat that's designed to run in big seas(4mtrs is not a big sea). have a look at the Cats that are used on Australia's Great Barrier Reef runs.....Completely different design altogether....and they work this size sea on a regular basis... They should have consulted someone on this before buying a pig in a poke. I guess Thailand is not the hub of design and well throw in common sense for good measure. Now....look at the photo of the underside of the bow, and the Deck joining the 2 hulls. There is no lift built into it....The beam is too small, for the length....It's Jet powered propulsion will make it a pig to handle, when slowed down to suit prevailing weather conditions....and so on and so on.... Usual Suspect
The Thais who have done 'extensive research' on this project should maybe have had a look at the piers on the Chao Praya river..They float up & down to compensate for the shallow waves caused by passing craft..But when the Ferry company has a passenger-laden ferry going up & down over 1 metre...it believes it's OK to try anchor it up to a fixed cement jetty...again not much foresight from the Thais. So how does this ferry compare with the Koh Tao-Koh Phangyan-Samui ferries? They seem to operate safely. Edited January 4, 2017 by SunsetT
Ace of Pop
Why didn't they buy A Hovercraft like the old Brit SRN2. WHAM straight up the beach ,no jetty require, save the Army work too. Blow those Jet Ski scammer, and those horrid uncomfortable deck chairs that only back packers find comfort in. It's a non starter On price alone,Take the Mrs n 2 Grandkids 10 k there n back,no waySent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect
