My 90-day report is due this week.

However, I read this on the Thai immigration website:

The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.

Does this mean that my recent extension of stay application 'resets' the 90-day report date?

It says "first application for extension of stay". Is it just the first ever application for an extension that resets the 90-day date?

Annual extension of stay was granted 28.11.16, until 30.11.17

90-day was due on 4.1.17

When is my 90-day report due, please??

If you assume it's the first ever then you can't go far wrong, report now.

Was your current extension granted against a visa entry (visa obtained outside Thailand) or is it actually a second (or subsequent) extension of an extension?

I had an OA visa issued in Johannesburg in 2014.

I entered LOS in December 2014 and got nearly two years stay from that visa.

My first extension of stay from this visa was granted 28th November 2016.

Does this reset my 90-day date and therefore I don't need to report until end February 2017??

Excellent!!...........guess what?

They've done the same for me, and I didn't even notice!!

Next 90-day report: 25th Feb 2017!!!

Thank you for that. I wouldn't have noticed otherwise!

I got a new extension of stay at the BKK One Stop last year and still got an overstay stamp in my passport and a 2000 baht fine 3 weeks later (at the same One Stop) because I missed my 90 day report.  I thought the new extension of stay reset the 90 day clock.  The folks at the One Stop didn't think so.  They won.

Be careful.

Edit:  I don't claim to know the rules.  I just know what happened to me.

The fact that it seems logical, means nothing in Thailand.

In fact, as has been said above (twice) they put a new 90-day receipt in your passport at the time of granting your extension.

Whether or not they do this every time, I don't know.

Thus, the 90-day date is, at lease sometimes, reset by getting a new extension.

As I said in my first post in this thread, "the scenario is not always consistent;" and I would add "even at the same immigration office."

I've had my 90-days reset at the time of the extension, and I've had the whole matter ignored, requiring me to report at 90 days following my last entry into the kingdom.

If in doubt, report and save a few baht in penalties.

As has been mentioned before, only the first extension counts as a 90 day report. As a general rule (there may be exceptions) the Immigration officer will not put a 90 day receipt slip in your passport, you will have to count 90 days ahead from the extension date yourself to figure out when your next 90 day report is due.

Some Immigration offices choose to do a 90 day report at every extension, since you are there anyway, even if your 90 day report is not due yet. Since they are doing an actual 90 day report, they will give you a receipt with your next 90 day report date. This does not mean that the extension counted as a 90 day report, just that the Immigration officer chose to do a 90 day report in addition to your extension. Most Immigration offices do not do this, they treat extension of stay and 90 day report as two completely separate processes and do not do a 90 day report when you extend your stay, regardless of when your next report is due.

So to sum up; your first extension always counts as a 90 day report whether your receive a receipt for the report or not. Subsequent extensions do not count as 90 day reports, so unless you receive a 90 day report receipt with a new report date, your next report will still be due 90 days from your latest report (or entry into Thailand).
