BANGKOK — For dropping a bomb on its customers by announcing they could no longer get HBO and its affiliates on short notice, TrueVisions could be the first company to face a class-action lawsuit brought through recently launched legal startup FongDi.

Winter came ahead of season for Thailand’s “Game of Thrones” fans Jan. 1 when the satellite television operator replaced its 6 HBO channels with Warner TV, Paramount Channel HD, Celestial Classic Movies, Food Network, Fox Action Movies HD, Sony Channel and True Film HD 2 after it failed to renegotiate its licensing deals.

No doubt this start-up will be slapped with a defamation lawsuit in short order and sued into the poor house, long before TrueVision has to worry about paying anyone for anything.

Imagine the change in the Thai landscape if class action lawsuits actually catch on here...

Good or bad changes?  I'm not smart enough to even guess.

Forget about it! When you are the only act in town and no other competition, you ether take it or leave it. That is why competition is a good thing. Nobody is near as big as True Vision is here, and they know that.

They are big business and as such there heart lies with the owners and shareholders. This is not a decision made over night. It is a well planned decision. The know they will lose some customers, but the windfall far exceeds that lose. Until they have real competition they can do as they like.

I guarantee, by the end of 2017 you will eat those words.
