Now also install camera's at traffic lights please. Traffic light cameras have been there for a while, certainly near me. Do they make any difference? Not a bit so assume they are not monitored. Will it be the same for speed cameras?
paulchiangmai
What a joke the new speed cameras are in Doi Saket, they are placed half way along a road where you are lucky if you can reach 30kph. Had they have placed then a short distance away on the 118 they could have caught thousands of speedsters every day, many at above 150 ks. By the way, what is the speed limit in the middle of Doi Saket? Edited January 29, 2017 by paulchiangmai Small s in Saket
prism
As you can see on post #26 it's 80 km/h on the downhill part and the last one after the road straightens out, it's 90 km/h. On the downhill part you usually get stuck behind someone going well below 80 km/h but the last one is much easier to get nabbed since you now have two lanes. Not a very big percentage seem efficient. The one that nailed me on the way to bangkok was, B 1000! It came in the mail and went out that way too. IMO that won't change with repressive measures, which only fill the city hall coffers. Those running in those traps will be drivers from other areas, unaware of the cam locations. Let alone the fact, they already set up 30 km/h or 60 km/h speed limits, where every well trained driver could easily drive with 80 km/h. IMHO only 2 policy changes would improve the fatality numbers: 1) improving traffic education with increased driving license requirements 2) eradicating the practice to pull out a business card or call a friend to call a contact, when caught However, good luck with that...
