NCPO’s meeting approves use of section 44 to set up Committee on EEC Development Policy

BANGKOK, 18 January 2016 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s meeting has approved the use of section 44 to set up a committee on the Eastern Economic Corridor's (EEC) development policy.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has disclosed that the NCPO’s meeting has agreed to the use of section 44 to set up the committee on the EEC's development policy while the draft law is pending approval, in accordance with the legislative process.

This procedure will accelerate the process of creating investment value for the country as the three provinces of Chonburi, Rayong and Chachoengsao possesses a developed infrastructure capable of accommodating future investments, he said.

He said that many investors are currently interested in Thailand's aeronautical industry, while the investment process requires clarity. The NCPO will use the authoritative powers of section 44 to speed up the process.
