That statement is 100% wrong.

This thread is not the place for another discussion about the legislation regarding prostitution, which has already been done to death on the Forum. Suffice it to say, aspects of prostitution are illegal but the act itself is not.

What an absolutely riveting tale, I'm really hanging out here waiting for you to post your reply to the Thai friend....

I said in reply, "Mai chai pom mai lu, ni tham phit khut mai, kow chai mai?", translated, " Not that I don't know, this is against the law, do you understand?".

I have a feeling that Thailand as a society is sliding down towards the septic tank. I have this strange feeling that it is also beyond redemption.

Seems they have no problem tracking down some criminals. When it comes to the Red Bull heir-----well, I guess that's where the brown paper bag changes hands.

Not just Thai men who are attracted to 15 year old girls, happens all over the world.  The problem here is that although the age difference and her age makes the whole deal unacceptable the outcome will cause even more strife.  She will be left with a child at 17 and the husband  will be banged up.  They have been together for more than two years and she is working at a department store, not in a bar.  Give him a grilling and pressure him to look after his young family and let them get on with their lives.  It could be so much worse.

surely it's rape?  I mean technically

It seems inappropriate that the Thai police look so extremely happy in the pic. Yes, they took a bad guy off the street. However for the sake of decorum the scene should be a little more somber in my opinion. So it does seem Chip that they don't take things very seriously.

It was their photo opportunity.  15 (or  five) minutes of fame and all that.

So even when they do some good police work and apprehend the perv, all you can comment on is the officers having less than somber faces.

They just busted a predator and maybe saved a girl from having the rest of her life ruined...they have a right to be feeling some satisfaction.

There seems to be a sick fascination with 15 year old girls among the male Thai population. I get the feeling that this is often not taken seriously enough by police.

That may be true but there seems to be an equally sick fascination with even younger girls (and boys) among some male foreigners visiting the Kingdom. That's just as pernicious as those committed by local offenders.

A rare outbreak of common sense on TV.

Yes, I agree entirely. The girl now no longer has a husband to look after her, and the child no longer has a father. Good work from the moral(istic) majority.

I had no idea sanity could be found over here.....I am surely baffled.

Only some foreigners?

The guy sounds like a real baden. Ran a casino and obviously a very bad influence for the 15 year old girl.

Again I blame the dangers of facebook. Parents should monitor and take interest as to what their children are doing online. The minimum age for facebook members should be raised to 18.

The police are happy because they can put this photo in their police photo album. They can say they arrested this molester because they make very few arrests. When they want to buy a promotion from Lieutenant to Captain or Sergeant to Sergeant major, they can show the photo as their qualification. See I made an arrest. It took 15 years, but I did it, so

I'm qualified to be a Sergeant Major or Captain. Here's my 500,000 THB for my promotion. That's why their so happy with a child molester.

Really, you seem to have it all figured out.

How about the police are simply dedicated to the job and proud of their achievement of taking a child predator off the streets and returning the girl back to her parents. Or does that logic not compute with your anti Thai sentiments?

No problem, off she'll go back to parents in the jungle, plonk the child with them then away to enjoy herself.

Situation normal for young Thai girls ( and their parents ) all over the country, it'll never change.

Sad..... But true

BANGKOK: -- A 53 year old Bangkok man has been arrested after complaints from a Korat parent that he lured her underage daughter away to the capital.

Arrested on a warrant issued in Si Khiw was Thawee Toyaem a dealer in second hand goods.

You have to laugh at the journo's words, they do brighten up an otherwise dull story.

It seems there will now be another child with no Dad and no financial support and in the meantime large scale crime continues.

"Old bulls like to eat young grass"  the girls are flattered by the attention and want the pussy power it gives them. A shame for the child but then children always think that they know better than their parents.
