BANGKOK, 18 January 2017 (NNT) - Thailand and Germany have celebrated 60 years of bilateral cooperation on sustainable development at Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Panyarak Pooltsup explained that Thai-German cooperation began on October 9th, 1965 under a bilateral agreement on economic and development cooperation. He added that one key area has always been the education sector. For example, the Thai-German Technical School founded in 1959 has trained skilled workers that form the foundation of Thailand’s industrial development.

Thailand and Germany have enjoyed strong relations in various fields for more than 60 years. The two countries’ success during that time has been attributed to their compatible ideologies, with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy pioneered by King Rama IX, and Germany’s concept of the social market economy.

German Ambassador to Thailand Peter Prugel said that together, Thailand and Germany have contributed to Thailand's transition from developing country to a leading economy and attractive investment destination. Thailand has become a launchpad for German business activities in the ASEAN region and beyond.

Over the past six decades, the two countries have jointly implemented more than 300 development projects in the fields of agriculture and food safety; climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energy; economic development and employment; the environment and natural resources; urban and industrial development; and good governance.

Thailand and Germany will continue to spearhead development projects and impart the lessons learned to other developing countries in the region and across the world.

So where can we observe these 300 development projects in Thailand - especially those about good governance? Or do they only exist in the heads of those diplomats, perhaps?

Mr Somchai on the right was still working when he had to go on pic with those germans. He is not proud at all.

Also Somying next to him wants to know what he's doing on the cellphone, guess he just got into a new level of candycrush.

I didn't know there were german technical schools in Thailand, how can the Thai technicians be as lousy as they are? Do all students always pass on that school as well?
