Falling into line with other embassies. The certification simply means "we hereby certify that [applicant] told us he had such-and-such an income"

NOT IN THIS CASE YOU WON'T

A list attached what to bring as proof MUST be in line with what you state, otherwise embassy (they wrote!!) will NOT issue a certification.(thanks for your post anyway!

Not quite. They have to produce documentation that the Embassy believes "proves" their income. TIT - you can produce any documentation you like and if it looks authentic it is authentic - that's how Khaosan Rd survives

Nope, one has to provide evidence which can be verified by the dutch tax office. Apart from the fact that it implicates more than just that, (cannot be botherd to explain it all) it also makes it impossible for a dutch person to get a statement if the income does not come from the Netherlands but from a different country.  It is not taxed in the Netherlands and therefore no statement can be given with the new rigid rules.

I've now read the web site. Contrary to the previous assertion it only says the income "must be verifiable" not "will be verified" (google translate) and continues to say that the embassy will accept the evidence you submit at face value. I'm guessing all that means is that if you're claiming your income is from the cash economy (eg. coke dealer, pimp) then it won't be certified as it can't be verified. If you submit, for example, a dividend statement from your pension fund or the rental agreement on a property you own then that is "verifiable".  Back to Khaosan Rd I think

The issue is that, to continue with your example,  If you submit, for example, a dividend statement from your pension fund or the rental agreement on a property you own then that is "verifiable"., provided it is of Dutch origin.

Can you post the link to that reference?

And also in the future you need to make an appointment when you want to verify your financial statement.

You used to be able to just walk in and get it done.

Correct, and that's why the website's update states that this new policy is under reconsideration. The Dutch foreign ministry will renegotiate with the Thai authorities to find an acceptable solution.

As it now stands, if you don't currently work or earn income in the Netherlands, but work in Thailand, then you can't marry a Thai.

Keep in mind that the Dutch embassy certifies net income only, not gross. That can be quite a difference and the difference between being able to get an extension or not. Sometimes also difficult to calculate the net income and totally ridiculous as immigration is satisfied with the gross income. Guess the embassy wants to give everyone a hard time instead of making things easier.

Until last year i have always stated my gross income and it has never been questioned, when did this change?

Who is to decide how much my net income is?I do not have to file a tax return in Holland anymore.

Nonsense, income from within Thailand is certified by the Thai authorities.

The income requirement for a Thai marriage certificate is not legal anyway, I have little doubt what a Thai judge will have say about it.

Both the old and new form state that it is your net income. But in the old situation it was never verified, so it didn't matter that much.

With the new form they will actively have to check the income and thus it does matter. You will have to proof your net income, not gross.

I already let the embassy know that it is often very difficult to give the net income until after you have done your tax filing and that immigration is happy with the gross income.

The reply was that they can't change the form................

My form says ,name, declares  has  an income of so much before taxes.

I have no way to have my netincome clarified by the Dutch tax department,i guess i will be in for a load of problems

in the next two months
