What this says is that the Department of Land Transportation has failed to do its job properly. Education!, Education!, Education!

Yielding right-of-way to Emergency Vehicles (police, fire, medical services) is part of the driving test, and failure is punishable by law in every in developed country in the world.

I met a Thai woman who lived in New Zealand for a while.

Now she hates Thailand and can't wait to get out again.

Think how embarrassing these stories are to the Thai government.

Would you do business in a country where the people are so self centered and corrupt they will let you die before letting a ambulance past them in traffic?

Some Thai health professionals believe that the blues and twos are put on indiscriminately, was giving a hospital nurse a lift and an ambulance came up behind us with siren blaring and lights flashing, i pulled over to let him pass and was asked why did you do that he was just showing how important he is.

I agree that you should give way to emergency vehicles when they have the blues and twos on but the drivers of these vehicles also need training so they only use them when it is appropriate otherwise the boy who called wolf syndrome kicks in and people do not believe it is an emergency even when it is one

My Mother in Law, was being transferred from the city hospital to one closer t;o the family house, after she had recovered, from serious though not life threatening injuries, after being hit by a boy racer on a motorbike. I had gone in to the city to see her, and agreed to follow the ambulance, as I was still new to the area. Well the ambulance driver switched on his blues and twos, and headed out a high speed into the traffic, he barged across lanes, drove through red lights, and I kept up though I must have broken half a dozen laws. He kept the lights on until he reached the local hospital.. Totally unnecessary  behavior. Dangerous to the point of being suicidal. After dropping her off,, he switched the lights back on and headed home alone.

This happened to me . I was being taken to another hospital 30 km away for a scan because of acute abdominal pain . The ambulance was not comfortable to start with and I asked to be driven slowly and try to avoid potholes in the road . The driver nodded and smiled and drove ok for 2 km but then floored it with all the sirens sounding . Through my partner I asked him to slow down <deleted> but he took no notice . I felt every part of that road and was soaked in sweat on arrival  . These ambulance drivers are cowboys without medical knowledge and I believe are paid by the hospital for the amount of patients they deliver .

The Thai ministers responsible for police , fire brigade and ambulance service should be taken to the UK to observe how the duties should be carried out , no comparison .

first time I saw the reaction of Thai drivers to an ambulance with horn and lights going and that was more than 4 years ago, I could not believe it, Still can't. how hard can it be just to move out of the way and let it pass?

Thainess in full effect, fin stupid people who cannot think just for 1 second a life may be at risk or just plain selfish drivers.

What person over the age of 5 does not understand the life saving role of an ambulance? It's not that they don't understand, it's that they don't care.

In the West any person blocking an ambulance would be hammered by the police and would more than likely to be held accountable for both criminal and civil penalties.

Here in Thailand the government has to plead with their infantile motorists to 'play nice.'
Second Most Dangerous Roads in The Road
Traffic Enforcement is non-existant
Sanctions are laughable
Amazing Thailand!

Nation of ignorance. Dont blame the serfs. Their masters have wanted this to be.

Ps. Imagine the level of FRUSTRATION for well-meaning, moderately educated thai who are surrounded by morons...
