A ladies lunch that gets noisy? Surely you jest???

Take your point, thanks for the laugh, but I didn't say the ladies themselves were noisy - Grandview' s buffet  seems to be a stop off point for huge numbers of Chinese.....

Take my point....?

You might like it so much you won't go back..  Being male in Thailand is pretty awesome.

Maybe it is, but I do understand it must be difficult in Chiang Mai for expat ladies who want to socialist on occasions and when they do are surrounded by what becomes predominately men`s talk.

I haven`t been into the bar scene for years, but there is still life in the old dog yet.

If some TV members were thinking about having a jolly boys outing, maybe to Bangkok or Pattaya and organised properly then I might be surely tempted, but Chiang Mai, forget it, it`s lost it`s omfff and a night out here would be a struggle to find any action, a waste of money, time and probably end up having an early night alone for most of us.

I thought you were happily married?  I thought the point was to have a night socializing with TVF members? not whoring around dude?

And you might have remembered that there are some women here who were showing an interest and it wasn't a "jolly boys outing."

But thanks for showing us where your head is at!

Please, please, not another suggestion from the see-and-be-seen brigade - silly me, I thought we were talking about a meetup of people for its own sake, not just another demonstration of the hi-so attitude that's been wrecking this  country for decades.

Personally, although I've no problem with treating myself to a great meal every so often, I'd rather stop eating altogether than get involved in pretension for its own sake.

Yeah, I was just about to reserve the private room at Le Meridien's Favola Restaurant for their next Sunday Brunch Exclusivo on Feb 5 for the meet--up. Buffet is fabulous at 1999 baht and I think I could get them to do a free flow wine and bubbly adder for 1000 baht. Nice surroundings and we'll be in the private room, yet close to the buffet. The Chinese tourists will be quiet types. Sounds good huh?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

HOW MUCH!  I think the getting senselessly drunk, with blurring head banging music surrounded by sweaty backpackers in some back street dark, dank grotty bar somewhere sounds like a cheaper and better alternative. On second thoughts, staying at home with my girlfriend watching Thai soap operas on TV seems like the safest bet.

The OP, Mr stament (Stamsy to you) will be socializing on occasion with us between 18 - 25 February.

The us, is Opal and I, along with my elder sister whom I'm bringing over from Liverpool for a visit.

As we will be holidaying, nightly outings are mandatory, however hallucinogenic raves will be off the menu ( if any still exist! ) and sly grogging venues after midnight.

Kick off point will be from the Le Bistrot & Terrace at the corner of Chang Khlan & Loi Kroh.

From there the night is whatever takes shape from energy remaining due to day time excursions and inclusion of the company being kept.

Throw in half a Maine lobster and I might consider it.

Do they have a free flow champagne option as well?

Methinks you are holding out on us Nancy! :partytime2:

Oh yes, sorry I didn't mention the half grilled lobster and free glass of bubbly if you make your reservation in advance.  Although, in the interest of truth-in-advertising sometimes Le Meridien has to substitute Canadian lobster for Maine lobster.

Yes, the bubbly wine (not champagne, but pretty darn good) is one of the wine options in the free flow wine package.  Give 'em some credit!

E/S hold your horses my friend.  You have thoroughbred desires with regards to meeting places, my own are more down to earth. in England I like a simple old fashion boozer.  Essential to have somewhere fun and central.

what a naive post, for the following reason, how can you judge Four Seasons Sunday Brunch when you have never ever been there???
Pretension, just the very opposite, now little girl , go back to your cave, and have a very nice day

Stamsy, your down to earth meeting places, that you have in mind, the punter for this event will surely pick up a TAB for ( approx) 1000 baht or more(food and drinks)

for the around  about double , you have got the best laid on, from ambience, service,  to great tucker,   (including lobster and seafood)with free flowing wine and cocktails, and a great Jazz Band with the beautiful Om singing the afternoon away, and fresh air to boot, cobber when one weighs in all the factors on what you receive, its a great deal

perhaps not a central location for all,but well worth a  30 min trip(approx) to Gods Country (Maerim),sure beats thrashing  your way through heavy traffic of the intended venue, from where ever you come from, as for The Four Seasons Sunday Brunch  being up its self, nuffin could be further from the truth, on many occassions, during the course of the afternoon  E/S has landed on the table of others ,and vice a versa, and  E/S is well known to do a dancing gig with any ladies present, who want to do so

its all about class, and what value you get for your hard earn,t, Four Seasons Sunday Brunch fits all areas, ,

a absoulately sensational morning to all
