hello guys,

i preparing the invitation letter for my teerak who should come to visit me in Switzerland in april.

i went through the requirements for the invitation letter and the sponsorshiop declaration, but it doesnt come clear to me. Obsiously, she cannot meet the financial requirements for visiting Switzerland and i will have to write a sponsorship declaration. However,

Station secretariat for migration of Switzerland says about the invitation letter :

Quote

The visa applicant must provide the Swiss embassy or consulate with proof of sufficient financial means to stay in Switzerland. If the costs for travel, accommodation and food are to be met by the host, this must be mentioned in the letter of invitation. The purpose of the letter of invitation is to attest the applicant’s reason for visiting Switzerland. It does not act as a guarantee for the applicant’s financial means nor for his leaving Switzerland

and then:

Quote

The declaration of sponsorship is not available online or from a migration office in Switzerland. It can only be obtained from the Swiss embassy or consulate responsible for processing the visa application. It is therefore not possible to speed up the visa procedure.

And about the procedure

Quote

1. Foreign visitors who require a visa should submit their application to the Swiss embassy or consulate responsible for their place of residence (for a trip to Switzerland to visit family/friends or for business purposes, including letter of invitation).

2. If the Swiss embassy or consulate requires a declaration of sponsorship, it will provide the applicant with the declaration form. The applicant should complete the form as far as possible before forwarding it to the guarantor (host). Some embassies and consulates may send the declaration form directly to the guarantor.

3. The guarantor should complete and sign the form before returning it to the communal or cantonal authority responsible. The guarantor should check with the authority in question if the form should be returned in person.

4. The communal or cantonal authority responsible then examines the declaration of sponsorship (financial solvency of the guarantor/host).

5. The canton informs the embassy or consulate of its findings. The latter then makes a decision regarding the visa application.

The full document.

1) I don't really get it. I should mention in the invitation letter that i will support her but i cannot fill the sponsorship form by the same time ? I have to wait she goes to the ambassy, submits the documents and is told i need to fill in a sponsorshiop declaration ? Can't i just fill in the sponsorship declaration, which i found online (in french) and not lose those precious weeks by the time i get the form, have it stamped by my local authority and returned to the ambassy ?

2) I got confused about the invitation letter too: should this letter be stamped by the local authorities as well, or should i write it and send it straight to her ? Are they gonna need the original, or can i just mail a copy to her ?

Thanks in advance for clarifing an unclear situation

Cheers

Grüezi!

I'm actually not sure about the process in Thailand but how they do it 2 years ago in the Philippines (CH embassy Manila now got a third party services who will receive the applications on behalf of them) is like this:

-Applicant gathers all the required documents including your invitation letter,

-The invitation letter doesn't need a stamp from your canton or from any CH officials. It would be written by you containing the following information : sponsor's full name, contact information, address, passport number and then the details of the person whom you're inviting. You must specify too that you'll shoulder all costs involved. And that she will stay with you on the address that you've given earlier. Then have it printed, signed, scannned, and then send it to her email. Ask her to print it using a high quality laser printer. No need for the original.

-once done gathering the documents, schedule an appointment in the ch embassy.

-embassy day: applicant would be given a paper and she should answer this questionnaire. It's all about the relationship of you and the applicant. Then she'll be called for an interview. The consul would then decide if a declartion of sponsorship is needed. They'll give this paper to the applicant and she'll answer a part of it then the applicant should have it scanned and send it to her sponsor.

-Sponsor would have to fill up the form, get the required document that they're asking and submit to the sponsor's cantonal office.

-Wait for the embassy's call or email if you're successful or not.

I believe it's the same process everywhere. The declaration of sponsorship is to check I guess if the sponsor is solvent enough to support the visitor. This happened to me twice but on the third and fourth time that I've applied,  they didn't ask my sponsor anymore to complete that declartion of sponsorship.

I hope this helps!

Visitor Visa applications for travel to Switzerland must be made at TLScontact on Sathon Road. The list of the required documents says this about finacial proof:

Last three months of bank statement

If the applicant is not in the position to provide proof of financial means a declaration of sponsorship will be handed out.

This declaration form does not appar to be available for download on the website of TLScontact amd will be handed to the applicant when the visa application is submitted and reviewed and TLScontact considers the declaration of sponsorship necessary.

mrnike, did your friend in the meantime submit her application and get the declaration of sponsorship form? What does the form look like?

Address the letter to the Swiss embassy, but send it to the visa applicant to submit together with her application. TLScontact has this example on its website as a guide for the invitation letter (for you in French, which means you may write your letter in French):

Correction: Visa applications to Switserland CAN be made at TLSContact. They can also be made via de embassy itself (as the embassy is obligated to allow 'direct access' which means you cannot be required to use an external party such as VFS or TLS).

Perhaps the website of the Swiss embassy, Swiss Min. of Foreign Affairs or Swiss migration department have the sponsorship form available. It's the embassies obligation to provide all and proper information including all forms one might need and including communicating all legisation properly (which includes things such as direct access). An embassy that fails to do such things is in violation of the EU Schengen rules.

Yes, they do allow direct access, it's detailed on their website

Applicants who do not wish to submit their application at TLScontact can submit it at the Regional Consular Center in Bangkok. In both cases, an appointment is mandatory and must be booked in advance through the website of

TLScontact. If no appointment was made in advance, neither TLScontact nor the Regional Consular Center in Bangkok will accept visa application. Few exceptions are listed in the information sheets.
