Non government graft buster proposes PM to give more power to NACC

BANGKOK: -- The Anti Corruption Organisation of Thailand yesterday proposed the prime minister to empower the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to expand its authority to question civilians and seek direct information from international agencies to escalate investigation of bribery scandals that engaged the country.

PATTAYA: -- Police are launching a manhunt for the killers in a murder case. A Briton and a South African man are now suspected of being involved with the murder of a British businessman in Chon Buri, a police source said.

Phuket's Chalong Hospital slated to open in 2018

The hospital will be built where the old fresh market once stood and including where the Chalong Health Centre is now.

 

PHUKET:-- The Chief of the Phuket Provincial Health Office (PPHO) has confirmed to The Phuket News today that construction of the new B105 million Chalong Hospital will be complete by end of next year (2018) and will be fully operational by January 2019.

Police Chief’s ‘advisory’ cash from booze company deemed totally legit

Just one day after giving Metropolitan Police Chief Sanit Mahathavorn and ThaiBev a week to explain why the official is accepting monthly payments for “advising” the giant booze company, the Royal Thai Police announced that Sanit isn’t breaking any police policies by taking a monthly handout from the country’s biggest alcohol company.

Finance Ministry mulls increasing old-age subsidy from 600 to 1,200-1,500 baht a month

The Finance Ministry is pondering increasing monthly subsidy for over 60 elderly people from 600 baht to 1,200-1,500 baht and to set up an old age fund with sin taxes from liquor, beer and tobacco, Mr Krisda Jinavijarana, director of Fiscal Policy Office, disclosed on Thursday.

Yingluck testifies to Central Administrative Court

Former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Thursday testified to the Central Administrative Court in a case in which she petitioned for the scrapping of an executive order for her to pay the state 35.7 billion baht in compensation for the loss from the controversial rice pledging scheme that she was held accountable.
