MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump are expected to talk by telephone this Saturday, the Kremlin said, their first conversation since Trump took office.

The phone call will be a crucial first step towards what the Kremlin and the White House hope will be a thaw in relations that were fraught under the previous U.S. administration.

Their conversation will also be subject to close scrutiny from Trump's critics after U.S. intelligence agencies alleged that Russian security services tried to influence the U.S. presidential election in Trump's favour.

Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, asked by Russian news agencies if the phone call could take place on Saturday, replied: "Yes," but gave no further details.

During the U.S. election campaign, Putin and Trump praised each other's personal qualities and said they were hopeful they could reset relations.

Trump has raised the possibility of reviewing sanctions that were imposed on Russia after Moscow annexed Ukraine's Crimea region in 2014 and helped separatist rebels fighting government forces in the east of Ukraine.

Russian billionaires including some tied to Putin got richer from Donald Trump's win  (The rising Russian ruble and commodity stocks earned some $29bn for the nation's oligarchs.)

"The fortunes of Russia's richest have grown 7.1% since the 8 November election compared to the wealthiest Americans who got a 2.8% boost.  Much of the gains are being driven by the Russia-positive tone that Trump has taken, indicating that he will loosen sanctions on the country - Tillerson also opposes the sanctions."

Putin:  Tillerson is going to let me divert Russian oil reserves without risk of sanctions, correct?

Trump:  No worries.  You'll be able to move them into offshore accounts.  You'll wipe my $600 mil debt with Deutsche Bank, right?

Putin:  Yep, and you'll let Russia take the Ukraine.

Trump:  Good dealing with ya Vlad.

Putin:  Same Don - you still want the hookers to put on a golden shower show on your first trip abroad?

Trump:  Yeah, Melanie won't do it for me anymore.  Somehow, she thinks she's an American hooker now.

Best of luck!  I sure hope it works out.  This is a huge test for Trump.  I'm skeptical, considering the egos of both, and the differences of opinion.  But!  Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

I doubt Putin will give him a hard time so early. Set him up.

Personalities like Trump are the bread and butter of intelligence professionals like Putin. Putin was handling Trumps when he was still a low ranking KGB agent.

Bromance of the century!

At the end of the call Putin said, "you hang up"

Trump replied, "no you hang up first."

Putin said, "no you first"

Trump said, "c'mon, you first"

Putin shouts, "HANGUP, f@#kface!"

Trump, "Uh, ok, boss"

Ah, finally the handler can talk to his charge without all the cloak and dagger stuff. The end of their conversation will probably be something like this:

Putin: "You will be the greatest President in the history of the US, the world, the universe! You're probably the greatest person that ever lived..or will ever live!! [Etc, etc, etc]

Trump: "Thanks Vlad, my feelings exactly!"

Putin: "BTW, did you take your shower today, Donald?"

Trump: [Pause] "I hear ya, Boss."

Yep, totally agree. For most Americans, this situation is PAINFUL and embarrassing (remember trump is VERY unpopular already). For those that wish poorly on America ... happy times!

Seeing as how Putin helped Trump get the job its the very least he could do is to cancel sanctions. Trump raising the possibility of reviewing sanctions is just a smoke and mirrors statement to glorify the great one. Later he will show compassion.

Trump is what Putin refers to as an "Asset"... For as long as it lasts he will play him for the fool he clearly is.

IF Putin does hold the watersports tape and/or other compromising things likely about financial corruption related to Russia, Putin's hold on trump will last as long as trump is politically relevant. We'll probably never know if the tape exists, but it hardly matters, trump has behaved as if that or something like it DOES.

Every action or comment that trump makes related to Russia needs to be considered with the filter that something's very fishy about this relationship. Even if trump plays a game of getting hawkish with Russia, that should be seen suspiciously as well, as a temporary ACT to fool people that Putin doesn't own him.

trump releasing his tax returns could help mitigate the suspicion but of course he will never release them, which begs the fair question, what's in them that's so bad that he won't?

There is a thing in counter intelligence called a "Honey Trap" which  uses sex to compromise an opponent.  The term comes from the well known English saying., :You can catch more flies with Honey than Vinegar."

There is also a thing called a "Cutout" which is a person who is no longer of use to you and can be "cut out"  of your further plans once they are no longer of use to you.  As an old KGB man I suspect Putin knows the meaning of both of these terms.

Let's see what is said about the sanctions put in pace by Obama.  Will he lift them this early?  If he does then that will say volumes.

Yes. But it's not that simple. trump and Putin both know that would look fishy. There might be a longer game that isn't that obvious.

(possible agenda) :

- end of sanctions against Russia,

- opening of the Arctic to oil drilling ( In 2012, ExxonMobil, one of the world's largest oil and gas companies, signed a contract with the Russian state-owned Rosneft to jointly open three oil fields in the Arctic : According to Rosneft, the global reserves of the Kara Sea would exceed those of Saudi Arabia. )

In this context, Trump will be able to count on the support of his friend and model: Vladimir Putin. The Russian president is a man who has oil in his blood. In 1996 he presented an exposé on  Russian world power restoration  thank to oil and gas reserves

In other words, if Trump does nothing, it's suspicious.  If Trump does something, it's suspicious.

Right.....back to your numb nut conspiracy theories and daily avatar changes.

I never fully understood the "peeing" side of the dossier.  From your link:

Quote

The so-called dirty dossier states that in 2013 Trump hired prostitutes to urinate on the bed of the Presidential Suite at the Moscow Ritz Carlton, where he knew Barack and Michelle Obama had previously stayed.

A truly sick individual.
