Can someone please confirm the precise requirements for the seasoning of the 800k for an retirement extension.  Is it 3 months or 90 days?

I might have screwed up. My current extension finishes on 1 March. According to my bank statement my 800k arrived on 29 Nov. If the requirement is 90 days I should be ok but it will be close.

Thanks and regards

Are you going in to immigration on the very last day of your current permission to stay? If so, that's a risky tactic regardless.

Keep in mind the money seasoning rules are about the time before your application visit to immigration, not the expiration date of your current permission to stay.

Is this your FIRST retirement extension application or is it a subsequent one?

On the filing date, the applicant must have funds deposited in a bank in Thailand of no less than Baht 800,000 for the past three months. For the first year only, the applicant must have proof of a deposit account in which said amount of funds has been maintained for no less than 60 days prior to the filing date:

The money needs to be in the bank for 3 months on the date you apply.

You could apply on March1st since there is no 29th day this month.

I had funds in the bank for approx. two months when renewing my visa and the immigration chap let it slide....

Presumably that was a FIRST TIME extension application.

In any case, immigration generally enforces these seasoning rules on 800K baht applications. There may be more flexibility on combination applications but don't count on it.

Ok thanks for the replies. Yes I understand it is risky. This has not been my approach for my previous extensions but this time I made a mistake.

If for some reason there is a problem on the 1st of March does this mean I have to leave and get a new visa from Kl or Penang and then get a new retirement extension?

You would need to get a new O visa from somewhere if the application is rejected, so I guess you need to be ready to travel. How stressful. Is there a way you could go in beforehand and get some guidance on how they will rule?

There is also the option of CONVERTING a 30 day stamp or tourist visa to a 90 day O visa in Thailand as part of a two step process, with the extension being the second step.

No need to get a non-o if there was a problem doing it on the last day. Just go back the next day, pay a 500 baht fine for one day of overstay.

If I was the OP I would try on the 28th to see if they would accept it which would identify any other problems even if they did not accept it because it was one day short of 3 months.

Regret my error. Thanks for the correction. Most helpful to the O.P.

Yes I will definitely try on the 28th of Feb seeing there is no 29th.

Hopefully there won't be any problem my previous extensions were fine.

Thanks again for your assistance.

what is a "retirement extension"?

A common term for annual extensions based on retirement obtained in Thailand. To start with those, you first need either an O or O-A visa but from there you can apply for annual extensions for life if you want.
