PATTAYA: -- A Korean tourist required hospital treatment after being attacked by a gang of 10 Thai youths during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Mr Do Jin Choi, 56, was reportedly eating dinner with his Thai girlfriend, 46, on Soi 6, Pattaya Beach Road, when he confronted the group of youths who were playing music loudly from a pick up truck.

After asking them to turn the music down, a fight broke out between Mr Choi and the group, resulting in the Korean suffering a serious injury above his eye.

The group then escaped in the pick up.

Police are studying CCTV images of the area to try and identify the suspects.

Doesn't look like it was this guys first rodeo either; doesn't appear to be in shock and relatively calm after the fight.

Hope he got a few punches in and some of the 'youths' remember the meeting.

And what caused it.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.  As a foreigner to ask a group of local drunk boys to obey his orders in the early morning hours in a notoriously nutty area of Pattaya???  I have no sympathy for this fool!

Then you're as bad as the nutters who beat him up. He deserves a pat on the back for telling these idiots to turn down their amps. They're a festering nuisance.

Koreans are the biggest nutters around when it comes to brawling.

This guy looks like retired Korean SAS :whistling:

Thought he might of pulled a better looking bird though.

She looks so worried

That he might cut short his trip and reduce her fee to a short time.

Loved to see CCTV of this set - too, 10 to 1 odds, he looks in good shape for 56yr old, I bet he gave a good account of himself and the $ hi t bags realised they were under handed for the job, hope he got a few good strikes in and has done some good to these hard lads... If they had the advantage they would have hospitalised him have no doubt, he has took the lot of them - Respect!

I was there and that music was super loud but the girls loved it with dancing in the street. What I find more disturbing is that some one would actually dine in soi 6

The press should respect if the victim wishes not get to filmed. I'm sure, some victims of other crimes won't got to police because they know, they ending up in the news.

Just about sums up the Thais.  10 onto to 1 !!  No wonder that historically they never really defeated the Burmese, rather just ran away.   Of course in WW11 they just took the money from the evil Japs  .  However there were over 100,000 Thais who resisted this and were ruthlessly punished.  Of course this resistance is not in the Thai history books and until they end their denial that they themselves are ultimately unprincipled, it will be same same.

I would be interested to learn details of any publications in English which cover both sides of Thai relationships  with the Japs.

If you don't want noise then don't hang out on soi 6.  You're the other dull knife in the drawer!

I think there's a typo in the English translation. It says he's 50 in the Daily News article, not 56.

In part, as stated silly to try and tell a gang of drunken kids what to do!
