I've been going to one in Kad Suan Kaew, but dun don't like it much.

There used to be a saloon on Kotchasan between Thapae and the soi where Bake & Bite is.

They moved 2-3 months ago to around the corner on Thapae Road (about next to JJ in Thapae Road)

They are not bad (providing you can get them to understand what you want)

One's an old guy (older than me "so thats old") and the other is hard to put a figure on.

I guess that I will keep going there until I find something better. And that's not easy as hairdressors tend to do what they want rather than what the guy sitting in the chair wants.

Why not try "Shampoo Salon" on si donchai rd opposite Chiang Mai Plaza Hotel. Nice friendly staff who speak english. Myself and the wife use them regularily

If you can locate the guy across the soi from the police box, on the traffic circle/roundabout in Changpuak (outside the moat, north), he's only about 50 baht and almost speaks barber English. But if you need to spend 200 baht on an ordinary haircut, any place with English signs could probably do a half decent job.

The only time I ever found another regular hair stylist, she freaked out when I changed and I asked her to not cut it in back. So, I have no expectations whatsoever for barbers or stylists. They have bad days, they don't hear you, or they do what they want. And they still want full price for a bad haircut.

Some of my best haircuts have cost about one dollar US. Better than the $25 cuts.

Barbers are just another thing I appreciate about Thailand. I used to pay $20 for a bad haircut. Now, though I still get a bad haircut, it only costs 40 baht.

I go to a place near the train station close to the traffic light. There are about 6 or 7 barbers working there. They do a pretty good job for 60 baht.

Is that on Charoenmuang (the main road) or on the side road to the station?

I ended up going to the one near John's Place - same side of the road and about 30 meters in the opposite direction from tapai gate. It turned out ok, tho I'm often fussy with haircuts, so that might mean it's pretty good. 90b was fine for a haircut I didn't dislike.

Yes they have both male and female staff. The boss is a Thai bloke with Photos of him self taking part in international hairdressing competions. He speaks good enough english.
