Police think he ordered the killing. It will be very interesting to see if there is any evidence to support this thought process. Whilst the 2 alleged perps are out of reach it would be rather difficult to get confirmation of this claim.

Perhaps the police have seen or been given evidence that they have been unable to share with you?

The headline is misleading. The guy got arrested by Cambodian Police, not Thai.

The headline is absolutely accurate,  he was arrested initially by Cambodian police, obviously, then handed over to Thai officers who then arrested him.

Nothing at all about Jamie Tobey online. Like a ghost.

There's nothing about me or any of the people I know online either, that doesn't mean anything should be read into it.

Normally only Thais get bail,

Nonsense, bail doesn't depend on nationality, it requires the ability to meet the court's, or the police's, conditions.  The British victim in this case was on bail.

It is also significantly less costly to get bail on a murder charge here than possession of drugs.

Sentence will be significantly less too.

Really?  The Aussie Hell's Angel would disagree with you about the sentencing!  So would the Thai couple who murdered the elderly Japanese boyfriend of the woman.

Guess they had to arrest someone, so why not the guy he's wive mentioned? If they asked around a little more they could have made their pick.

"If they asked around a little more they could have made their pick."

Such as who?  Sounds as though you could know something.

Now here is a thought.

When the police learn that a murder as been perpetrated and they learn the person who was murdered has money and involved in a substantial money making operation, do you think that aspect of the case would persuade the police to diligently follow up on all aspects of that particular case ....as compared...as compared....... to a person who was murdered and it is learned the murdered person is just an average citizen of modest means and no money of any significance involved..... or not that they know of or not that they can imagine.

A good number of foreigners are murdered in Thailand and certainly over the last 30 years for example while most of them are swept under the table, so to speak ....so why are they in hot pursuit of the suspects in this particular case???

Can you imagine why?

Cheers

The thing is, though, that contrary to what you claim, most are not "swept under the table" [sic].

Here's a thought, if you pay a bribe, "under the carpet", would that, too, result in something being "swept under the table"?

just saw another story where a driver shot and killed a 17 year old over a parking space argument in ChonBuri, who got bail for 200,000!

Charges of murder AND an unlicensed weapon. Life is cheap.

Nothing to do with the value of a life, the circumstances of that incident need to be taken into consideration before you have a go at the system.  Have you seen the video of it?

Following the case on here and other online sources it has become obvious Mr. Kenway has had many enemies. It is also fair to assume many of these enemies are above the law. It therefore seems that they picked the only guy mentioned by his wife. In my opinion a little premature as they have not caught the guy pulling the trigger. Then again it might just be that they wanted to question him (Toby) as he could shed light on the murder.  The police themselves mentioned links to boiler room, but no one has been questioned.

"Following the case on here and other online sources it has become obvious Mr. Kenway has had many enemies."

"He has had many enemies"?  Why is that so obvious?  Which other people has he clashed with that have been mentioned in reports?

"It therefore seems that they picked the only guy mentioned by his wife. In my opinion a little premature..."

Why is it premature?  Do you know what his wife told the police, not everything goes to the media, you know?  By the way, there are two others that have been "picked" of just as much interest to the police.

"The police themselves mentioned links to boiler room, but no one has been questioned."

How do you know that no one has been questioned about that?

Maybe because the victim chose to post a certain picture on his FB site. I think there's probably some significant pressure to show that this murder was 100% foreign criminal and foreign crime related with no home grown links of any sort.

Miles Dicken Turner and Abel Caldeira Bonito can run, but can't hide forever from the Thai cops. Sooner or later they will be caught and then the trio will have a long stay in the Bangkok Hilton.

You bet...works really well...just a matter of how much you can pay and pay the RIGHT person....lol

That is what the Thais know how to do better than we do .....as it is a Thai thing ...you know?

That is were you make the mistake. The crime took place in Thailand. Tony Kenway committed multi million dollar crimes in Thailand that was still under investigation when he was murdered. That make this case a 100% Thai criminal case and the urge to find and catch the people involved.

No problem, if the police "think" the guy is guilty, then he is guilty and the prosecutor and judges will think the same. That is how innocent people land in prison in this country.

So the actual killers remain at large..

Mr Tobey will post bail at a Pattaya court and will be free to leave the country, which he will do. 300-400,000 baht bail and off he goes.

Just look at the guy who beat the school teacher into a coma or all the pedophiles and extortionists that got bail.

He is actually lucky that some of the coppers from NongPrue made their way to bring him back to Pattaya if I read that right.

Doubt the Cambodian courts would grant him bail..

He will not be granted bail that I can promise you. He is a British expat living in Cambodia and every Tom, Dick and Harry knows that he will run. Firstly, What you don't know is that the area Jomtien falls under the jurisdiction of NongPrue. That is why the cop from NongPrue went to Cambodia. Secondly the crime was not committed in Cambodia and that is why there won't be a trial in Cambodia.

Any difference? Thais do not have jurisdiction in Cambodia. But in Thailand they do have. That is why when he was arrested in Cambodia he was handed over to the Thai cops and arrested when he was entering Thailand.

Just not so interesting. A criminal guy got shot by other criminals. Just what these people do, and will always keep on doing. I just feel a little bit happy that all the scumbags actually uses an enviroment friendly system to clean out certain parts of themselfs.

You guys are all so serious.

So many know this Kenway victim scammed money form old unsuspecting expats?   Are you the same guys who say if you wear a gold necklace its your fault if its gets ripped?

Assassination doesn't  mean it has to be a famous person? Execution style?   I think both words describe this premeditated well planned in the head assassination.   I wonder what the cab driver to the border overheard?

Let justice prevail.

RIP and hope his wife and family get through these trying times

would you prefer "assassination" style... or are you just being "picky" about words?

Execution  style meaning by my understanding as "carefully planned and meticulously carried out"  As opposed to perhaps "clumsy, badly planned or opportunistic."

The Americans use the term as "good riddance killings" as a subset of the firearm murder statistics.  Quite appropriate!

They wouldn't be sounding so liberal and forgiving if it was them that got ripped off.
