webfact
Video: Man threatening the public with scythes causes stir in Ang Thong Picture: PPTV ANG THONG: -- Police were called to a road in Muang district of Ang Thong as a man was threatening passersby with two scythes. Video of the incident made its way onto Thai TV. Police tried to talk him round but still he was threatening people. At one point he advanced on a pick-up that was obliged to reverse to avoid being struck. Police brought in some interesting "low-tech" poles and prongs (previously featured on Thaivisa last year) to subdue the man but it proved unnecessary to deploy these devices as the children of a local Phu Yai Ban eventually arrived and talked him round. A woman said that he was not suffering from any disease in particular - he was just drunk. Nobody knew what his beef was and he was later driven away on a motorbike to meet with his relatives. No charges were laid and Ang Thong police went back to base. Source: PPTV -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2017-02-
Moonmoon
Well at least no excessive force were applied from the police n no one was hurt in the whole process.
Get Real
Perfectly normal day in a village that offers the exiting Lao Khao that never get out of hand in producing the most horrific effects possible to a human mind.

Yes it was good. Maybe that's because on this occasion it was a man with weapons rather than a defenceless coffee lady. And the police were sensible rather than behaving like violent thugs. Not sure it was so good.. i mean someone is threatening people with violence... with weapons and nothing is done.. Now jail might be to severe but locking him up for a day till he cools down might have send a better message. Now the message is.. you can do what you want. tubby johnson
A woman in an Iron Maiden "Can I play with Madness?" T-shirt defuses the situation and sends him on his way. How apt.

I agree, it shows how the police has no power. Just put a gun on him and tell him to drop the weapons...if not than fire in the air 2 times and after that they are free to shoot him in the leg. Last week in Pattaya there was a farang wielding a knife, the police didn't get him but the motocy taxi's did...again lack of policepower. They have to show who's boss but of course they neglect their duty again.
madusa
I don't think this is good at all. He is sick and need help and they all think he is all right now, he goes home and sleep yeah? This is the problem with Thai people not being able to see the real situation. NO, He will kill someone later perhaps next week. Lack of psychiatric assessment, too many of them walking around in Thailand.

djayz
Drugs? Alcohol? A combination of both? It never ceases to amaze me just how patient and chilled the BIB are here. In many other countries he'd have been tasered, shot or forced to the ground by a gang of coppers. These fellas just stay calm.

Is it against the law to use tranquillizer? In the US if that guy refused to put those knives down he would be pumped full of slugs don't you think so?
