BANGKOK: -- THE PHEU Thai Party has not yet received a request to attend the invitation-only reconciliation talks which kicked off on Tuesday, despite authorities’ claims of inclusiveness and assurance that all 70 parties had been invited.

As of 2pm yesterday, the party which led the government before the 2014 coup, had not received an invitation letter that the reconciliation preparation committee claimed to have been sent to every party registered with the Election Commission, said its acting secretary Phumtham Wechayachai yesterday.

“I have contacted our administration staff as well as senior figures – the leader, deputy, leader, and the members of the executive board – and none of them has received an invitation,” Phumtham said.

It was surprising that an issue as big as reconciliation was not being taken seriously, the acting secretary said.

Reconciliation in Thailand doesn't mean all parties get together to work out the problems.  On side has hand picked some representatives to come over for lunch.

Why are they saying they are not sure if elections would be held this year. The public were informed months ago, the election will be late 2018 or possibly 2019.

Doesn't this just expose what an utter farce and lie this whole 'reconciliation' thing truly is?

Appalling beyond words. And some people still think this ruling mob of liars are sincere?!

The dog ate it. It's in the mail. You won't believe this, but (fill in your own excuse here).

Maybe it's all just one big 'misunderstanding' that is never explained.

No surprise here. Can not have a representative of the largest (mainly poor issan people) voting block having any say in the reconciliation process. Nothing is ever going to change

Brilliantly put, my friend! You've placed your finger on the very heart of the matter.

Such injustice screams out for ..... justice!

The invitation got lost in the mail.

All political parties and the people need to reconcile themselves to the fact that there will be no proper reconciliation process.

What people are seeing is the usual masterly military junta lip service on matters relating to democracy.

What leader? You don't have an elected leader.

I'm sure the Junta will work with the PTP to "create an understanding*" all in the name of 'reconciliation'.

* create an understanding: pipe down or we'll seize your assets and send you to jail.

The Junta doesn't want reconciliation , the whole sham so far points anything but , it's not in Prayut's interest to have everyone on the same page , the Military might do themselves out of a job, mind you Prayut was a real good friend of Yingluck's, she was the instigator of appointing him Commander in Chief, so that will give an idea of who or what you are dealing with..................................................:coffee1:

Ooop's,  sorry fella's we must have forgot to send you an invitation to OUR reconciliation talks,  and if you don't have an invitation you can't come, but don't worry we are looking for it and we'er sure we will find it and send it to you by the time the talks re finished ok.

We can't have the party with the majority of voter support coming to OUR meeting or they'll think they can have an election and win government again.

OOOwweee,,,   why don't these poor buffaloes just accept that we will not let their representatives in power.

Right now do you think we need to spin this in the media just threaten anyone with defamation, computer crimes and seize all their assets, and throw them in gaol if they say we planed this???   Reconciliation is for all,   (just not the people we don't want.)

Anyone notice that the junta huggers are absent as usual when their hero's get caught out yet again.

The junta is only interested in working with those parties that will likely form the coalition government after the next election that will be in good standing with the junta. Makes sense since the junta will have a role in PM and PM Cabinet selection. Obviously, the Democrats pass that criteria and the PTP does not.

Did the Nation reporters contact the organizers for any comment? Did their editor check this point?

Typical incomplete lackluster Nation reporting.

Who invites a bar room brawler to a tea party?

It's a genteel affair where bottles to the head are not welcome.

And a few years back in time. But but Thaksin......

When will this refrain end?

If the "Bar room brawlers" picked up enough votes to form the previous govt then of course they should be invited. How are you going to achieve reconciliation without the most popular party in attendance?

It's like holding reconciliation talks on the southern troubles without inviting your muslim chums.

It would be great to really have representative of all the people attending these meetings. And have them genuinely expressing real ideas on how reconciliation can be moved forward.

But PTP (aka Please Thaksin Party) only represent the interests of one man.

I would imagine once Thaksin, his extended family, friends and cronies stop trying to get themselves into positions in which they can run the country for their personal benefit.

Sadly, that isn't likely to be anytime soon. That's not to say others don't do the same. Just that the newer clan were more crude, visible and excessive.

Did you read where party's are being called in small groups alphabetically? (That'S A-Z).

No such thing as a junta hugger - only those who aren't daft enough to believe anything and everything the PTP spout out.

How do you know that they didn't get an invite? That's right, the party that openly said lying to people is ok and even ethical said so.

Anyway does it really matters? The outcomes of the meetings are probably already decided in advance....:coffee1:

Won't be long now. Reconciliation talks will take place right before the next election. Should be around 2025 or so.

Right! The same as the rigged 'Constitution' referendum, and the results for the next faux-election (whenever that comes): all outcomes basically decided upon in advance.

The junta has put PT to shame when it comes to lying...

No one with half a brain needs to believe PT, it is evident and absolutely clear that reconciliation and a return to democracy isn't on the Junta's agenda. Whether or not an invitation has been sent. PT doesn't  need to show up, the end result is pre-determined. If they are smart, they do not participate. It's a charade, a smoke screen, or to call a spade, a spade, utter <deleted>.
