"Touch Up" Paint For Cars

Featured Replies

Can anyone give me a steer on where to buy those little containers, usually with a tiny brush attached to the lid , of what we Brits call touch up paint for car bodywork, in the UK there are specialist car spares stores where they carry all the different colours for all the different makes of car. There used to be such a place in the lower floor of Airport Plaza near Tops, but thats long gone.

My car is a Mazda 2, and yet strangely, the Mazda dealership I use on Hangdong Road doesnt carry that type of thing.....they look at you a bit strange and say they can order it from Bangkok or Japan, or wherever, but they have no idea how long it will take !!

Have car, can travel.....so any information greatly appreciated!

Look for a Mazda workshop, not dealer, any insurance should know. They need to spray the repairs. They certainly have the right color and may even do the job for you for small money.

Well most likely they will spray the area required touching up so..... yes they would use touch up spray !!

I can't say I've seen any of that touch up paint about.  If you have a scratch that is back to bare metal, a good trick is to borrow the missus clear nail varnish.

This stops rust from starting and when you have enough scratches can get a proper spray job done.

There is a paint shop just along from Fat Elvis that has lots of paints. Good lacquer in spray cans...Leonard brand.

I'm sure I bought this in the auto section of Central department store at Airport plaza last year. It was a match to my Mazda snowflake white.

Where are the Mazda workshops?

No idea, had no need for it so far. Usually they do work for more than one vendor. These are not "legitimate" brand workshops but contracted insurance ones that work cheap...and slow.

I've had this problem for years and never resolved it.   Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, none of the dealers have any touch up sticks, some have never heard of it and none want to know about ordering such things.  They all want to direct you to a paintshop as Thai's never do any work on their own cars.

I wait until i'm going to Europe or Oz and take the paint code with me, bingo, sorted the first day in civilised countries !

Probably that color stick would cost more than the paint job from the local Somchai :)

if its just basic colours, then iv had a lot of success over the years using nail polish .  yep ,and cheap too.

Have you just recommended a service you have no idea or experience with?

Another vote for nail polish.  Many uses around the house,  garage and yes, bedroom. Red, yellow, clear all serve a need.

Something like that, wife usually crashes the cars, we have 2 Chevies, Sonic and Optra, the latter is somewhere in Nakhon Sawan ready for pickup after repair. My BT50 still untouched, knocking on wood.

You can also get them on Ebay...

What color is your Mazda 2? I bought a touch up stick for a Mazda 3 red color

down with Big C parking lot superhighway for 190 baht.It is the "normal"red.

If you need just a little, contact me.

Hi DVG,  Which Big C., please?  Do you mean the Big C extra that used to be Carrefour,  quite near Index and Festival?

If so, I can call by there, my Car is the Metallic  Grey/ Blue colour, so thanks for the offer,  I ll have to keep plugging away!

By the way to all, they dont stock the touch up paint sticks in either Airport Plaza or Kad Suan Kaew any more.....they used to have it in Festival,  will try there when its not Sunday ( too busy!)

There are also some car accessory shops in the BigC Hang Dong Rd (not the one further south) if you park inside, parking area, not inside the mall. They may have or may get the color for you. But as I wrote before, I'd just look out for a workshop that deals with Mazda repairs.
