The anti-graft agency has yet to request information from the United Kingdom’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in relation to the Rolls-Royce bribery scandal linked to certain Thai state enterprises.

Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, president of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), said Monday that his agency has not made a formal request for the SFO to provide information regarding its investigation into allegations that the British engineering giant had bribed officials in a number of countries.

Between 1991 and 2005, Rolls-Royce allegedly paid Bt1.25 billion in bribes to officials from the national carrier Thai Airways International (THAI) and the country’s energy giant PTT, as well as certain other state agencies.

I wonder why not......... Probably goes someway to explain why the SFO have not provided any information.

Not that they actually want to get it.

Is it not part of the way business is done in this part of the world, part of the culture, a way of life. Dont rock the boat and dont get caught again.

Agreed. If they don't ask for information, they won't get information. And, with no information, they're cannot answer questions from inquisitive people. Which means that face is saved and the Thai world can continue on its merry way.

It's all good.

The U.K. may most possibly not transfer the information to Thailand, due to humanitarian reasons.  This, because the all new Thai law carries the death penalty for bribes taken of one billion ore more THB.

The Thai junta came up with this law just in time, they pulled itself out of the swamp by the scruff of its own neck.

Indeed. And to be fair, they can still say they have not received any information from the SFO. Implying that the British won't cooperate and therefore nothing can be done. Of course, the fact they haven't actually asked for any is just a minor detail.

Good plan.

But they'll never find out if they don't officially make the request.

I am sure I read, that the anti corruption body had asked RR for

information but RR would not give it details, its difficult to get

a straight answer ,especially when it concerns corrupt practices,

some of the cases where foreigners have paid bribes, like in the

Bangkok Film Festival,Fake bomb detectors, they are in or have

been in prison,RR is going to be another example where nothing

happens here.
