rooster59
No disruption to flights after first day of Swampy runway repairs Image: Thairath Repairs to the eastern runway at Suvarabhumi airport resulted in no delays yesterday. It was the first day of resurfacing on a stretch of the runway and a taxi way that will last for 60 days until the beginning of May. Airport director Sirot Duangrat said that in the period from midnight to 5pm yesterday there were no flight delays even during peak periods. Both domestic and international flight were similarly unaffected, he said. Some delays are still expected over the next two months and consequently Thai Airways have announced there will be no charges for passengers who need to change flights resulting from the runway work. An operation center has been set up to facilitate all aspects of the work that will see a 935 meter stretch repaired in the first phase. The western runway is unaffected at this time. You would think that the repair would last longer than 60 days...........but actually that is about how long the road re-surfacing in our area lasts.....
