No surprises here. We get many posts, usually from the same few posters, that want to convince us that the Shins are really the people's party trying to bring a better fairer society for all rather than the thieving bunch of corrupt criminals out to suck the country dry.

Based on their actions when in power - the Shins certainly ain't remotely interested in democracy, meaningful social reforms, or the truth. But they did get hugely more wealthier during the years PTP were in power, which their egotistical leader couldn't resist bragging about.

Never mind  just remain delusional.   The Shinawatras were in government a small amount of time compared to your friends and his predecessors.  If you believe that it was only the Shins that  gained unaccountable wealth and that the many corrupt administrations  prior to them and since did not make the Shins alledged corruption pale into insignificance than you are not only delusional but plain stupid to think so.  But carry on in your make believe world , one in which your good friends have managed to turn Thailand into La La land. Pleasant dreams.

BANGKOK: -- Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong on Thursday said the Revenue Department had to find a way to collect more taxes from the family of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra regarding the sale of Shin Corporation a decade ago.

He said he did not have the authority to extend the deadline for the tax collection period due to taxpayer rights. "If the deadline will be extended then there is no longer a statute of limitations," he said, adding that would breach legal principles. He referred to the ruling of the Finance Ministry's Tax Commission.

This was yesterday. Today, it's "just get the money." The fact that too much time has elapsed to be able to legally collect, mattered yesterday, but not today. Amazing what can happen in a day in Thailand.
