Police claim to have seized bombs, firearms in raid on red-shirt fugitive’s house

By The Nation

Troops and Pathum Thani police jointly raided a house of fugitive red-shirt leader Wutthipong Kachathamkhun, alias Ko Tie, on Saturday morning and claimed to have found a large number of bombs and firearms.

The raid on Thai Max Group in Pathum Thani’s Lam Lukka district was led by Deputy Police Commissioner-General Pol General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul at 8am.

A caretaker of the two-storey house, which is located on a 100-rai plot, was taken for questioning to Kukot Police Station.

The raid found many assault rifles, grenades and ammunition in crates, according to the police.

Srivara will hold a press conference at 11am to announce details of the raid and the findings.

Seen as a leader of an extremist red-shirt group, Wutthipong has reportedly fled the kingdom.

I wonder if this "weapons and ammunition " etc are the same ones that they "claim" get found everywhere else. The guy was long gone so why did'nt they search months ago ?  Perhaps it took them that long to organise the planting of the stuff ?

Efficiency is not really something they are known for... they could not even catch the abbot.. so to claim this as unusual is stretching it.

This guy was known for his violence around chang wattana against the protesters.

Are if it is an example of violent behaviour then just like the 4 off duty Navy personnel in Sukhumvite I suppose,  who no further mention was made of after their use of lethal force in 2010.  Guess OK for the Elite establishmentarians to support violence when their heads are in danger of being forced from the trough.

Violence should be controlled by the state.. in other words.. police.. and army.. not random thugs who are not held accountable. Of duty Navy personnel should be held accountable just like others. This guy is a known menace and has a violent nature. I certainly believe that they could have found arms on his property.

But like you i find it stupid that it took so long to go there, but a frame-up (not that i believe that was needed or done here) really does not need that much time. So using the time passed before searching as an excuse is invalid in my eyes. I would call it lack of professionalism just like letting the tax collection go so long and go for it at the last moment. I think there are many people who are not qualified for the position they are in and it shows.

So the guy knew he was under the spot and stored bombs and weapons in his own house. Additionally he fled in 2014 and has been sought in the whole country by the Junta, and they search his home only in 2017?

The Junta seems to rely too much on "miracles".....:cheesy:

Sorry, but I, for one, am not surprised at all it took the BIB 3 years to "find" these arms.

If anything I'm amazed at how quickly they did so.

{sarcasm alert...well partially so anyway}

Just do a raid on police/generals residence I'm sure you can find many illegal weapons as well...won't be surprise to find C4 at generals house

You don't even have to raid his house - just look in his carry on bag when he goes on holiday!

Of course it is entirely credible, that if an opposition politician was setting up an undercover army,  he would keep the weapons and ammunition in his house,  I look forward to hearing that there were party membership cards and red baseball caps with pictures of Th.. (shh you know who) littering this secret arms kote as well.

Seize his assets I say.

Or they could have been moved there recently Rob; perhaps some surveillance or tip off.

But the red shirts that were very visible around Lam Lukka area are now just as invisible.

Only he's not an opposition politician. He's a leader, appointed by whom we don't know, of a violent group claiming to be red shirts.

Whether they are members of a political party, the UDD or red shirts is not so sure, but there willingness to use violence to support the Shins is.

The fact that the police claims something, does not make it true!

Very true. In fact, 95% of the time, just reverse what the Thai police claim   - and you have got the truth!

Again proof hmm claimed and only a caretaker in charge? I try and not use the word proof unless I can provide it. These "raids" will be rolled out from time to time right up to election time. A dubious arrest at best.

Whatever happened to sutheps monk mate who had armed security guards in front of his protesters. He must still have munitions. Oops, anti Thaksin. He must be ok.

They raided the house, found the cache but yet can only claimed as they have no proof of the ownership. Can't rule out a set-up.

Ko tee.. otherwise known as Isarn rambo.. Google him.. oh i forgot you rather not have your precious reds connected to arms.. and killings yet.. they get connected to it all the time.

The guards were armed with light weapons - nothing like Ko Tee's - after, repeat after Ko Tee and his gang continually attacked the protestors, killing some with grenades and guns. The popcorn shooter was armed to defend protestors against Ko Tee's militia who were protected by the CAPO-instructed police.

Even Nick Nostitz who generally supported the red shirts admitted this during a seige at Laksi. It's about time they raided Ko Tee's headquarters.
