Kick them out! Public angry as traders move into Bali Hai port area

PATTAYA: -- As soon as the Pattaya authorities enforced a ban on parking at the Bali Hai port opportunistic traders have moved in to the area.

Sophon cable reported online that they had responded to complaints from the public and tourists and had gone to the area formerly used as a parking lot to investigate.

Many people hope the area will be landscaped and turned into a public park but yesterday there were more than 30 traders selling hats and souvenirs to Chinese tourists.

Sophon called for the authorities to act while Thai posters on Facebook said they should be turfed out immediately.

Some suggested that a fine was not enough - they should all have their wares confiscated as this was the only way to stop them cluttering up the area.

I cant help but feel sorry for the people who need to spend hours walking around with hats and northern Thai knick-knacks etc., or old people pushing those heavy vendor carts for miles every day and who have no other source of income. There's a big difference between them and the ones that set up nightly stalls from the back of a brand new top of the range pick-up and block the pavements outside the Avenue and Central.

No. You are saying that.

Just watch the Chinese leave from one of the airports heading back to China.

Huge bags, boxes and suitcases packed with Chinese "goodies" freshly imported by Thai traders from China.

I asked a Chinese once why he dragged all this Chinese stuff back to China........"We can't buy in China or it is very expensive!"

Huhh?

what the hell does it take to get this area improved???How incredibly incompetent is this City hall that they can't even complete simple projects like a landscaped park and a small marina!!! What do they need??? How difficult could it be to get some concrete poured and plant some freaking palm trees!!!

Even the 3rd world African countries have some sort of functioning  marinas!!! How many decades will it take to remove debris from the "state of art marina" they  didn't complete??? And how many more decades do they need to rebuilt the existing or build a new one???

The officials where there on the 16th with "the plan"

first thing to do  is build an easy place for buses to  turn around on the "multi-purpose" yard,

plans are being sent to a landscaping contractor for "improvements"  in April

they are certain that this will solve the traffic congestion in the Bali Hai port area  for sure.........

or the port...

or the state of art hydraulic parking...

or the Chinese bus parking...

or the Waterfront building...

i can go on but I got better things to do :)
