Trump's bullying has cost US economy a significant opportunity in Canada. Canada is going with the German -Norwegian consortium for its planned purchase of 12 new submarines. In the past, a large portion of the contract would have gone too US suppliers. Now CAD$100 billion will benefit the Canadian, German and Norwegian economies. It will allow for interchangeability with the German and Norwegian navies. The amount of investment in Canadian infrastructure will have a big impact and allows the transfer of German CO2 capture technology to the Alberta oil fields and the expansion of the Port of Churchill, which has the potential to become the largest Northern Passage port in the world, reducing travel times for LNG and Canadian grain to Europe. This will make the products more cost effective than the US products. Germany will build a torpedo production plant in Canada, which means no more purchasing of US torpedos. South Korea has become a major supplier of artillery ordinance to NATO countries, with the result a decrease in purchases from the USA. The European defense procurement facility now includes Canada, which means that Canada will be directing tens of billions of $ to the EU and not to the USA. The first contracts are already starting. Poland is purchasing new specialized radios from Canada and not the USA which it used to do. Ok. When that occurs, the USA will lose its influence over much of the western world. The USA cannot protect all of its financial and foreign interests on its own. No membership in NATO will exclude access to various critical territorial waters and airspace. It will also reduce intelligence access. In any case, withdrawal from NATO is beyond the ability of Trump. The US Senate will not agree. And after November, Trump is officially in lame duck status and his influence will decrease to the point that no one will pay attention to him anymore.
