Little Phuket girl rewarded for returning bag full of cash and gold

PHUKET: -- A nine-year-old girl received a reward for returning a bag containing 130,000 baht in cash and 90 grams of gold yesterday afternoon.

Piyarat Boonkek and her parents met with 55-year-old Nukhlia Sangkaew, the owner of the bag at Kamala Police Station to return it.

Ms Nukhlia told Police officers that at about 2:30pm she withdrew the cash from the bank and planned to pay a hospital bill. On her way back home, she got caught in heavy rain, during which the bag may have fallen on the road.

Great story, after all the bad ones involving Songkran..

2,000 baht reward - for 130,000 baht cash and 90 grammes of gold. Should have been 10% .... For me not such a wonderous story ...

What a terrific young girl and roll model.  She thwarted disaster with kindness.

Great little girl. Gives me a little wink about that there might be some kind of sunshine in the dark tunnel.

Unfortunately the woman get her things back has no clue about that the reward was a slap in the face of humanity. It should have been at least 10-15 000 Bath.

Just shows that the the little girl has more brain than a grown up woman.

Yes great story about the girl, and a bit cheap of the lady to only give her 2000 baht, or about 60 dollars US.

should have been at least double.  or even 5000 baht. yes I too am cheap.  and retired, and headed toward broke.

130k to pay a hospital bill, ok, but 90 gms of gold?? Something doesn't add up in the lady's story. Great move on the part of the little girl AND the family that didn't keep it.
