Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam on Tuesday defended the composition of army chiefs on the proposed national strategy committee under the national strategy bill, saying it was proportional to ensuring the country’s security.

Wissanu said there would be six army chiefs out of 32 members sitting on the so-called super-board, so it could not be said these are too many, and they will help take care every aspect of the country’s security through their experience and knowledge.

In fact, he said, there would be other procedures to help screen the national strategy plans, so it’s not just down to these people or the board to make decisions on the national strategy on their own.

Pathetic.  None of these 'army chiefs' has a clue as to how to run a country, only how to ruin it.

Eventually, maybe in 20 or 30 years, the Thai people will achieve a democracy and rid themselves of all these self-serving parasites who now  impose their will on them.

There is no place for a country's armed services to govern it, their role is to protect it from foreign attacks.

They are not trained or educated and have no mandate to govern, they simply do what serves their own interests.

Like buying expensive military equipment and giving themselves pay rises and promotions.

The so called elections will be a complete farce. Between this Politburo, the hand picked Senate, and an NCPO prime minister, the elected government will have as much relevance and power as the current rubber stamp NLA.

I am just mystified as to why anyone would stand for election under the circumstances. Yes, you might be allowed a small percentage of the take, but you will be sitting in an NCPO mousetrap for it...

And will each of their vote count 6x that of the other nonmilitary members?

For example - Don't vote with the military then does a nonmilitary member face an attitude adjustment session at an unknown location decided by the military? Section 265 of the 2017 Constitution will allow such action.

Classic intimidation of civilians.

I do enjoy the twisted logic. The only threat Thailand faces comes from within. There's no real external threat. And this is all to protect the rich and powerful from having to give a single inch to the majority. Sadly, I think there will only be a revolution anytime soon if the junta take away the Thai's social media.

yes we have seen the logic of the army chiefs recently in Surat Thani, the purchase of subs that are merely toys for the boys and will never be used as they are intended to be, the aircraft carrier that never leaves port or has any planes etc. Unfortunately many of the high up brass from the armed & police forces have no idea at all, honesty/clean slates are also far and few between with them as finances seem to be more important, trouble is, it is the same with most of the politicians as well, they are all in it for themselves and not for the betterment of the country and its people
