CHIANG RAI: -- Two Hmong hill tribesmen were taken into custody but three escaped in a drugs bust on the banks of the Mekhong River yesterday morning.

Police gave chase to a red plate Chevrolet car after a tip off that there would be a drugs delivery on the Chiang Saen to Chiang Khong road, reported Thai Rath.

Warning shots were fired and the car was eventually boxed in. But while two men were arrested three escaped by jumping into the river.

In the Chevrolet were just over 4 million Ya Ba tablets and 149 kilos of ice methamphetamine.

Arrested and taken for questioning to Bangkok were Yafatee Sae-yang and Sakchai Sae-yang.

Judging from the photo, had there not been bundles of dope in back, those "warning shots" would have probably killed the occupants.

And? Probably they urged them to stop, they didn't.
So what you suggest next?

Sitting here in the peanut galley, I have no suggestions.

I'm just amused that they characterized shooting into the vehicle as "warning shots".

Maybe lost in translating the article.
Or the police got confused with the order how to approach fugitives. 555

These guys are skum bags into drugs, and the police should treat them as such.  Warniong shots into

the back of the car are heard by the driver and passengers  and then 3 manage to escape, I would say

that the warning shots were ineffective.

Geezer
