Police told to obtain arrested warrant for Red Bull heir ‘Boss’
By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Public prosecutors issued a letter on Friday instructing officers at Bangkok's Thong Lor police station to apply for an arrest warrant for Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, heir to the Red Bull fortune.

He is accused of running over and killing a police officer in 2012, but again failed to meet the prosecutors on Thursday.

Sutthi Kittisupaporn, chief of the Department of Southern Bangkok Criminal Litigation, said on Friday that his office had already asked Thong Lor police to locate and bring to the prosecutors the 31-year-old grandson of the late Red Bull co-founder Chaleo Yoovidhya.

If police couldn't locate him, the office instructed them to apply at the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court for an arrest warrant so he can face the prosecutors' indictment decision.

Vorayuth, who has repeatedly ignored previous summonses and is yet to be charged with a crime, was due to face his accusers on Thursday over the hit-and-run death of police Senior Sgt-Major Wichean Klinprasert on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road in September 2012.

After Vorayuth’s lawyer again requested a postponement on the grounds that he was “preoccupied” overseas, prosecutors said he had obviously been stalling.

The statute of limitation has since expired for the charges of speeding and reckless driving causing property damage, but Vorayuth remains accused of reckless driving resulting in death, which has a 15-year statute of limitation, and refusing to stop to assist a victim, for which the statute ends in September.

The first offence carries a maximum jail term of 10 years and the latter six months.

At long last the scumbag is finally going to have an arrest warrant issued. Shame it took 5 bloody years. Now the next phase of the farce will commence, when they try to actually serve it on him. A man is dead because of him, so cancel his passport, issue the summons to Interpol, whatever is needed. Get this low life back here to face justice without ANY further delays.

I doubt he will have an arrest warrant issued.

The prosecutor has issued the paperwork, so the Arrest Warrant will be produced. The big question is whether it will be served.

The Government are none too popular right now and know that Thai people are pretty pissed off about this case.

IF, they cancel the passport(which they should), his avoiding justice days are done. If they don't bring him home, I suspect public anger will boil over.

No he won't.

The OP says the following

" If police couldn't locate him, the office instructed them to apply at the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court for an arrest warrant so he can face the prosecutors' indictment decision. "

And i have such a feeling that police will look indefinitely to locate him, so there will never be an apply for an arrest warrant.

Police hunt Red Bull heir after warrant issued for fatal crash

Vorayuth

AN ARREST warrant was issued yesterday for Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, the heir to the Red Bull fortune accused in the hit-and-run death of a police officer in 2012, enabling police to hunt for the 31-year-old fugitive.

Vorayuth reportedly stays in England and enjoys a jet-setting lifestyle in London and other cities across the world. National police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda said that authorities would use all possible channels to locate him, including contacting British authorities.

As Vorayuth’s status would be a fugitive following the issuance of the arrest warrant, an extradition procedure may be launched involving the Thailand-United Kingdom Extradition Treaty, he said.

Police would still hunt for him if he moved to another country, and if he returned to Thailand he would be arrested, he said.

“Don’t worry. Thai police have been constantly trying to catch those with arrest warrants on them all along,” he added.

Chakthip’s comment followed the public prosecutors’ request for police to bring Vorayuth to hear the indictment decision soon, after Vorayuth again failed to appear before prosecutors on Thursday.

Vorayuth, who has repeatedly ignored previous summonses and is yet to be charged with a crime, was due to face his accusers on Thursday over the hit-and-run death of police Senior Sgt-Major Wichean Klinprasert on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road in September, 2012.

Vorayuth’s grey Ferrari dragged the policeman’s body more than 100 metres down the road before driving off. The badly dented Ferrari was later found in the compound of the family’s home.

After Vorayuth’s lawyer again requested a postponement on the grounds that he was “preoccupied” overseas, prosecutors said he had obviously been stalling.

His delay tactic allowed him to escape from charges of speeding and reckless driving causing property damage since the statue of limitations on the two charges expired.

Vorayuth remains accused of reckless driving resulting in death, which has a 15-year statute of limitations, and refusing to stop to assist a victim, for which the statute ends in September.

The first offence carries a maximum jail term of 10 years and the latter six months.

Did you read the post immediately before yours? ID 10, From a Moderator, confirming that the warrant had already been issued?

I agree that serving it is going to be the tough part though.

"As Vorayuth’s status would be a fugitive following the issuance of the arrest warrant, an extradition procedure may be launched...."

His travel will not be too restricted by the looks of it,

Extradition Treaty Countries: Currently the following countries entered into extradition treaties with Thailand: Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, China, Fiji, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom, and United States.

"After Vorayuth’s lawyer again requested a postponement on the grounds that he was “preoccupied” overseas, prosecutors said he had obviously been stalling."

It took the police 5 years to realize that Vorayuth was stalling , This is not justice it is a joke

It has only been because of pressure from the media and Thai citizens that they have made some motion in the case.

The only way Thais will believe in the Thai judicial system is if he is made to answer for the death of the cop killed by him

Short of that  no one  will believe in the system of justice  here in Thailand until he is brought to justice,

It reminds me of a case in the USA where a rich kid who got drunk and killed  some people with his car and was given probation His defence was he had been spoiled as a rich kid and did not know right from wrong.

Does this sound familiar

will the authorities be able to catch him in his farrari ? looks like the police officer tried to stop him possibly for speeding , the officer felt the full force of this type of car , i hope they find him he is probably at a race track , its a case of im a rich kid and does what the hell he wants , it would be good to see him behind bars and throw a few ladyboys in his cell that would stiffen up the case .

We not worry. Especially knowing that Thai police have constantly assisted those with arrest warrants to avoid arrest all along.

An arrest warrant has been approved by the court.

Vorayuth's grandfather Chaleo Yoovidhya co-founded Red Bull with Austrian Dietrich Mateschitz in the 1980s. After Chaleo died in 2012, he left 11 relatives a fortune estimated at nearly 18 billion euros ($20 billion).

Thai police chief, Chaktip Chaijinda, said his force is exploring applying for the extradition of Vorayuth. "Whenever he steps into Thailand, we should be able to get him," Chaktip told reporters. "Initially I learned he is hiding in England where we have an extradition treaty."

"The arrest warrant has been issued," Colonel Kachornpong Jiitparkpoom, the superintendent of Thonglor police station, told AFP on Friday afternoon. It is the first warrant against Worayuth, who has spent years ducking hearings on charges linked to the death which took place in Bangkok's wealthiest neighbourhood.

For God's sake this is how they treat one of their own. Has anyone posted the F1 schedule of 2017 race year calendar to the Thai police. In Russia this weekend! What is absolutely absurd is that this is the first arrest warrant in 5 years. Maybe its a reason for a payed holiday flying business class or they might be thinking of really doing something. I am leaning towards a holiday out of the kingdom.
